    Why tournament blue?

Actualky 99% of viewers are watching tournaments played on green cloth. Snooker finals attract about 60 million viewers. Chinese 8 ball draws millions more. I’ve also never seen Russian Pyramid Matches on anything other than green cloth. There is The occasional black ball tournsment on blue...

    FIRST RUN OF 30

There is incentive to do it quickly as the number will only increase.

    FIRST RUN OF 30

Congrats! We salute you, However, now you need to top 32. Maybe make it a goal by your 80th birthday. If you are ever back up to 32 and the run is still alive, if St Peter taps you on the shoulder ask him to come back in ten minutes. I’ve played Snooker for 52 years and My highest breaks...

What MM shaft do you prefer?

I’ve always used a Snooker cue for American pool. I’ve used my current cue for 14 years and it’s 9mm. Fortunately it’s as good as new so hope to get another decade minimum out of it. For a half century I’ve used the same sized 9mm tip.

    Anyone know this maker mark?

Pope John Paul 2 personal cue. Look inside joint and there may be a secret message from God explaining the Perfect aiming system. Congrats on a nice cue.

    Position markers for practice

Mine were a dollar at the dollar store. I use them to Mark the centre of the Snooker pockets. This way I can tell centre pocket from any angle. An added use. Some use the ‘ghost ball method’ for potting balls. Use a sticky donut to replace the ball used to determine the ghost position. Then...

If You Know You Are Going To Miss.......

Have to laugh. After 52 years of playing I still get confused by ‘inside/outside’ and ‘right/left’...then to top it off I shoot left and right depending on the shot. I just know where to hit the ball and if discussing with someone will point it out in the actual ball. If watching an...

    shooting with inside

I like that final paragraph. I’ve always played billiards left and right handed. I’m a lefty but decades ago was instructed to make easy shots right handed. Now I don’t even think about which hand I’m using.

    Cuestore.ca

I was at Value Village in Calgary on Tuesday,..must have been a dozen cues...half of them in cases. $8 to $15 or so. Beats me why anyone buys a new cue or anything sports related.

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

Ha.,Ha! That was ‘weird’. Marketing at either its best or its worst. It had me skipping forward to the nine ball sinking. Brit fans are at extremes. Football games can be insane and then go see a cricket match and it’s polite clapping. As for Chinese being ‘reserved‘. Skip around this...

    What Shafts Draw better ???

My own snooker tip is a ‘modest’ mushroom. Tends to flatten out to what what I prefer after a month and fortunately stays at that level until I replace it the next year or so. Fortunately my 15 year old box of tips should last me another decade. It’s only after I get the tip right that I can...

    Artificial tips?

No. 100% of the people I play Snooker with use a wooden cue, 100% of those I play English pool with use a wooden cue and likely 80% minimum of those I play American pool with use a wooden cue. I’ve never played Chinese 8 ball against anyone with a non wooden cue although likely a few...

    What Shafts Draw better ???

Re doned tips. Just coincidence but tip of Shaun Murphy, same fellow as in video clip above. Many pro snooker players shape for a mushroom tip to get the contact at as extreme an edge as reasonable on the cueball. If possible they’ll change the tip a couple months before the new season or to...

    What Shafts Draw better ???

My observation. It’s mostly about tip diameter and technique. Good short clip by Shaun Murphy a top ranked Snooker player. Remember this is a 12 ‘ table. He uses an 8.75 mm tip ( I use 9mm). I use a snooker cue for American pool so the few times I use an American cue I admit that I’m not as...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

Tennis is worldwide. It wouldn’t be viable if dependent on just the US market. No pro circuit and thus no US Open...or at least that anyone would care about. The issue with some sports is they are marketed as ‘events’..spectacles. One off events like boxing has to scramble to promote her ‘next’...

Thinking of calling it a day......

I’ve played snooker for 52 years. I know the community fairly well. I’d likely rank about 390th in the world if there was such a thing. However, I really don’t care. I play slow pitch and ball hockey and soccer. Nobody gives a hoot about improving or someday making it to some higher level. We...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

The most watched sports in the world by TV audience are: Soccer, cricket, field hockey, table tennis, tennis, golf. The first of these has the most insane fans in the world. The last, amongst the most subdued in behavior. It’s not players or fan behaviour that governs a sports popularity. Yan...

    shooting with inside

It’s a positive to be able to pot the ball using either inside or outside English. The choice depends on a few other variables...most notably where do you want to position the cueball? Another is: are you playing 8 ball or 9 ball, etc.? I’m more comfortable with outside English so would...

    Huge day for Chinese Billiards

I don’t bet but completely misread this tournament. I had Selby vs Robertson in the final...then when the actual final arrived: Higgins 10-6. Gilbert did well but unfortunately a non-ranking event and he’s going to slide down to about 30th ranking unless he does something before the end of...
