    Wood over CF shaft options

I have a bit of a problem with always wanting to try new things, not because I think they will magically improve my game, I just enjoy it. As a result, I've had MANY shafts over the last 10 years or so. Recently I've gone away from the CF back to wood. I've settled at the moment on a Kielwood...

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

Fair enough. I just think in golf you can use recent history because everyone gets to tee off from the same spot and hit the ball until it goes in the cup. Your golf handicap is 100% based off of your individual performance. In pool that is not always the case, so a longer time frame will...

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

I'm sure his game isn't what it was years ago, but he still plays well. He just got back from world games so could be jet lag. He doesn't seem to take it too seriously anymore. I think it's been years since I've even seen him play two events in a row with the same cue. He normally sells it...

    Pronunciation of "Aloysius" (Yapp)

To be fair.... (see what I did there) most of the rest of the world uses the alternate spelling of Aluminium that is more consistent with other elements like Titanium, Cadmium, Magnesium etc. The one that still throws me off the most is hearing their pronunciation of "decal".

Cuemakers who do really dark brown shafts?

I believe it has more to do with the cooking time and temperature.

Cuemakers who do really dark brown shafts?

I believe he still uses Prather (the original Kielwood) blanks and finishes them out, but it's been a while since I spoke to him about that so he may have a new source.

Cuemakers who do really dark brown shafts?

I'm not sure if it is the "proper" method, but I've had good luck with turning the old shaft down to make a tenon and then boring a hole into the new shaft. Kept the original indexing, alignment and pin fit that way. The second pic was before final sanding/refinishing the shaft. I've also...

Which are your favourite quotes from players?

Really hard to beat Jerry Briesath telling Mark Wilson "I want you to take two weeks off and then consider quitting altogether". Not really a quote, but after that I'd pretty much have to go with everything Joe Rogan said while impersonating Earl.

    Cue length

I'm just a little over 6'5" and have pretty well settled on 60" cues. I tried a 62" for a while, but I ended up playing with a longer bridge length and that seemed to hurt accuracy for me. I think if I could have adjusted the balance point it may have worked out better and made me move the cue...

    Anybody Ever Have Two Tables?

I've had two tables in my basement for about 12 years now. A 9-foot 1964 AMF Grand Prix (Gold Crown copy) and a 7' bar box.

    Pronunciation of "Aloysius" (Yapp)

I've been working for a global company for a while now and I've found most of the world has gotten so used to English speakers (especially Americans) butchering pronunciations, that they know it's pretty pointless to make corrections.

Pure X Kielwood Fuze 12.5mm + Mcdermott Lucky Butt

Just an FYI- I think you linked the wrong shaft. From what I can see of the logo, it looks like this one. https://seyberts.com/collections/shafts/products/pure-x-fuze-kielwood-carbon-fiber-infuzed-solid-shaft-10-thread?variant=43805995958470

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

I think the logical "fix" for this is to wax/silicone every cue ball before every rack. :)

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

No, but if you know the cue ball is "waxed" and your opponent doesn't, you are at a HUGE advantage. Even if a player like Kaci or Yapp (or anyone else) can "adjust" to the new conditions in a few shots, that three or four mistakes or missed position, at this level, is likely to be fatal.

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

Yeah, he really has nothing. If he actually had a "legal team" they would have told him that to sue for defamation they would need to prove the comments were made with malice, which I doubt there is any evidence of. Edit: at least in a US court that would be the case, possibly that is...

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

I wish they would stop using the word "wax". Much more likely to be silicon lubricant. Spray it on your glove before the match or even put it in your hair then run your hand through it before you take ball in hand. Rub the cue ball a little and it's done. Then the next time the ref cleans...

Commentators talking about anything but the match in front of them

How do you all feel about interactions with the comment section? When they are on the screen, I find it distracting and sometimes read them and miss most of the match. When they are not on the screen, and the folks in the booth respond to them without reading them out loud, I'm listening...

Commentators talking about anything but the match in front of them

Maybe it's just me, but I also find the "I would do this" comments to be exhausting. You're not at the table; nobody cares what you would do.... especially when after you tell us what you would have done, we find out that because of parallax and camera angles the shot you thought was the right...

Cue repair man n player, need room

I started to see a lot of these around local pool halls/tournaments, so I decided to get one and overall, it's pretty nice. The tubes are actually pretty large so you can double up shafts (1 up, 1 down) if you need to. I've even put a shaft in next to a butt a few times. You can also put shafts...
