They were made in Japan by the same company that manufactured Adams, Helmstetter, and several others. They are good cues and play well. There was a full range of models, Some sold from under $100 up to some models sold for $500 or more.
In many cases it is the glue that is being used. If it is over a month old retire it and open a new container of glue. With a pad I usually like to lightly score the face of the pad. It seems to help.
Before you replace a ferrule make sure that they are in fact cracks and not just scratches. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to tell the difference.
I retired from being a table mechanic about 2 years ago. But a local room wants me to start doing their tables. I would like to know where I can purchase ridgeback rails for a Valley 7 foot table. Apparently since I have not posted in the Mechanics only forum for a while I can not post there...
Jim, Sorry to hear that you have decided to call it quits on the cue business. I wish you well in all your future endeavors. Please just let me know if I can help you in any way. Good health, good luck and good shooting!
It can be repaired, or restored or converted. The chioice is yours depending on what you want to do with it... keep it original or not.... display or player, or sell it. A replacement shaft can be done as well.
It is just my opinion, but I would not touch the shaft with any type of abrasive, period!!! Start with washing and drying your hands and clean the shaft with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly then apply a little good quality pure carnauba wax.
To do that properly in my opinion, would require engineering and making a completely different spindle. That headstock was never designed or intended to have a rear chuck.
Does anyone have a Pred. 314 that they want to get rid of? I have a customer with a old Predator and needs a shaft. The cue is not worth much but has sentimental value. So he does not want to spend alot.
Thanks a million,
Todd

You can use small strips of paper of various...
