What The BCA needs to do for Pool

In Golf, you have the USGA as a governing body, the only one. In tennis, it's the USTA, the only one. (in reality golf has men's and women's, but all governed by the USGA, and the same with tennis) How many can you count in pool? And we expect to be organized as a body? I don't know it's the...

A Little Help on Jean Balukas please

Having Jean play in men's events would have never saved the tour. You can attribute the demise of the tour to Don Mackay alone.

Looking for mentor in Orange County, CA

Scott, Glad your experience is good at Danny K's. We put Artemis rubber and Simonis on all the tables and it has really made a difference.

Looking for mentor in Orange County, CA

Jay, Thanks for the compliment. I work with players now and then, usually to give advice only when they need it. We have several players at Danny K's who have honed their games for years and are really competitive now, like Ramin Biakhtiari, Johnny Kang, Mike Laos and a few others. I believe...

A Little Help on Jean Balukas please

I watched Jean play in a few matches in the early nineties in Reno. She did pick off a few men, but never finished all that high in any of the nine ball tourneys. Alison Fisher would have definitely given Jean a run for her money. It probably would have been close, with Jean winning more...

    Sharked by railbirds

What everyone is saying is absolutely true, the only unfortunate thing in all this is the fact that pool is the only sport where this is commonplace. I just watched some of the British Open Golf, and you never see anyone overtly sharking someone else, even the crowd will wait until the shot is...

    Pool gloves

While I like the glove because it you don't feel the nicks in the shaft and for the lack of a need for powder, I also now realize that I don't like the feel of the Simonis cloth either.

9 ball and 10 ball qualifiers at Danny K's

Reminding all of this great opportunity. If you're in the Inland Empire or Orange County this should be a must.

July 11-12 Fast Eddies Olhausen Tour Austin TX

I occasionally have a conflict in my pool room with the UFC. I check months ahead of time and make sure that no UFC is going on at the same time I schedule a tournament. Usually the UFC events are scheduled a few months ahead of time. Fast Eddies must have not done their homework on this one. n

    Earl walked out @ GCCS

Unfortunately, Earl's antics (I believe) have always been a way to get the edge on his opponents. I think he should have been disciplined years ago, but the tournament directors wanted him too much as a drawing card.

9 ball and 10 ball qualifiers at Danny K's

I know some of the best players have already qualified, like Jose Parica. Good opportunity to play in a major event!

    Greatest 9 Ball Player Dead/alive

Buddy himself believes Lassiter to be the best ever. After watching Buddy play so many times and his perfect cue ball control when he was playing well, I would still have to go with Buddy as being the best. The only x factor is the break. Buddy never had the best break. Strickland tortured his...

    chalk controversey

I personally believe that if most players had to choose a cube of chalk without the label that Triangle would win out because of its tendency to stay course and not become mushy in humid conditions. Master has become such a household name in pool rooms that players just accept it as being the...

Thanks, Jaden. The more the merrier. I'd like to get at least a dozen in both events.

Is pool dying in the US???

I guess the topic is about pool dieing in popularity right now. When I ran a billiard supply from 1980 til about 1990 there was a seven year rule that proprietors use to follow, that it would peak every seven years. "The Color of Money" changed all that, and I think the billiard industry is...

    Eyeglasses for shooting pool

Have you ever considered eye training? It takes a few minutes every day but really does work unless you have a bad astigamtism. It's all over the web. It won't get your eyes to 100 % but it could improve them enough for shooting pool.
