    Target Pool? Use A Dime.

I played target pool a long time ago and LOVED it. As a below average player it helped me see the "HOW AND WHY" things happened with the cue ball. I grew up in a smallish town and there weren't many people with the knowledge or desire to teach others how to actually play. That being said, it...

    What to do today

Considering that you probably will not play that league nor were you asked to attend I would 100% vote to go with your son. I wish my dad and I were able to do things like pool together. He didn't even get to see me play much. It will mean more in the future to spend time with your son.

Would you be willing to dress nice to raise the opinion of billiards?

Dress up for major events, sure. But minor/weekly events don't think so.

votes needed, like, dislike, couldn't care less

I like the concept, just maybe add 2 more stars to the top and allow it to curve more so you can see the shape of the sting ray better.

    Doubling the bet...trap?

Soooo, what was the 4th set played for? $120? If your opponent likes doubling the bet that is what the next set should have been played for right? Even match? Sooner or later one of you goes home really broke.

Can we get an update on the number of current registrations? Fellows asking me if spots are open.

    Rule Clarification

If I am correct the rules played by APA say that you must drive either the cue ball or the object ball to a different rail. That is the only place I have heard of this being used that way.

    9-Ball Chaos

When I first started playing pool I would only gamble in 9 ball if it was call pocket. Maybe you should be a Tournament Director so you can decide the rules to play by. I am sure that if you find a location, plan the date, advertise the tournament, run the tournament, and pay the winners, you...

How Would You Play This Layout?

If I am playing for fun I go for the out. If I am playing a runout player for money I definitely play the safe as mentioned above. It is by far the higher percentage shot.

    Ban safety shots.

Ban the safety, the bank, the jump, the masse, and all kick shots. If a ball doesn't go in the pocket cleanly the ball spots back up. Ball in hand only inside the jaws of either pocket inside the kitchen after a scratch. Maybe this kind of game would be more to your liking????

Need help with a league question

I like the race formats in the APA but I LOVE the point system of the BCA/ACS. Averages for average players will sometimes vary due to time away from playing (like not playing for a couple years) then coming back. I also like the way that the point system helps to slow/contain sandbagging. If...

A few thoughts on MC cup 2014

I believe that the team selection process should include a couple of matches against other players. Have 15 or so players selected to participate and have Mosconi type matches to determine who plays that format the best. It is easier to select a team when you can see them in action in the...

    The next level

Nice thread. I already know that I am not going to get much better than what I am right now. I don't have the time it would take to do the practice to get there. The other key that many of us forget to mention is the physical conditioning it takes. Stretching and rest play a big role in how...

    I have a ?

Interesting question. Our league has been played by points for a while but we do it by total points at the end of the night/session. That way one point will not win a match/session without it being the very last game of the session.

Looking at your tip while chalking????

Normally I use the swipe method. I typically don't look. Although I do chalk while looking before each game rather than each shot. I also look while chalking my break cue before each game.

    What is the BIG DEAL

I have never understood why the APA rules exclude the jump cue. Can someone make this sound logical to me?

One pocket - what would you do here?

Maybe play the 14 with high right. Play it so that it kicks the 1 ball toward your pocket and leave the cue ball on the opposite side rail between the second and third diamond.?? I must warn you I am not very good at 1 hole
