The picture is a little too small to be certain, but from left to right are: Irving Crane, Jim Rempe, Ray martin, Steve Mizerak, blank, Allen Hopkins, blank, Lou Butera. The bald headed guy looks familiar, but I can't place him.

That's my kinda place, OZ!! In the late 1950's I played at Nick's poolroom in Dormont, PA (Pittsburgh). 8 ball and 9 ball were 10 cents a rack, rotation was 15 cents; and straight pool was 60 cents per hour. All the rooms still had spittoons, and there was always the faint odor of cigars in...
I phoned Lt. Flowers today to see what the status was of an AMW feature, and also to tell him that we're all yammering for the surveillance clip to be put on YouTube.
He said that AMW told him that the story was in the "evaluation" stage. We'll all be keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that...
It's great to hear that Frost won. It couldn't happen to a more deserving guy, especially after that silly loss last year in the finals. Now if Scott does real well in the 9-ball, he could win the all-around.

Here is the official rule from onepocket.org:
2.2 The opening break begins with ball in hand behind the head string. On the break, the cue ball may contact either a cushion or any ball in the rack first, but in either case, after contacting at least one ball, an object ball must be pocketed, or...
We have no word that there's been any further progress on the case. There is an updated story on tonight's news concerning the interest that "America's Most Wanted" is showing about this case. http://www.wlox.com/Global/story.asp?S=11884620 You can click on the Video Gallery story to see the...
I spoke with Flowers earlier today. He said the lead they had from Sherman, TX turned out to not be the guy. Not even close, really. He said there was another "sighting" that they're following up. However they're delighted to pursue any lead, and they have meetings about this case daily.
I...
Probably not the best guy to practice with in preparation for Diliberto.;) Cooney plays a pretty safe game, whereas Danny was firing balls in from all over the table. I expected Ronnie to shoot semi-fliers, but was surpised when Danny did. They both like to shoot, and Danny especially likes...
Cyco, you probably thought it was in Louisiana because it was so humid in Phoenix at that point-- which is very unusual for that area. The wet conditions seemed to bother Ronnie more so than Danny. This was a great challenge match!

Hopeful news
"America's Most Wanted' has made some initial inquiries regarding the Mike Surber murder story. They have interviewed the lead detective, Lt. Flowers, and they have asked for contact information for some of the witnesses to the suspect's activities. Hopefully we'll know within...
I believe Frost is the best one-pocket player of today's generation. He is the favorite to beat anyone playing today, certainly in a longer session. At one-pocket, he's one of those unique talents who come along only once each generation or so, like Worst, RA, or Reyes. If Frost would be able...
Ray, I'll ask the Lieutenant about that. Maybe I can get a copy of the clip. Otherwise, if it gets on YouTube, perhaps it can be copied from there.
Thanks~ Doc
That's a great idea, Jay. I spoke with Lt. Flowers this morning. He likes the idea too, and will get on it Jan. 4th after the holiday.
Once we get it on YouTube, then we can post a link on all the pool sites. That way they'll be able to see the guy's mannerisms, and the way he carries...
I agree about McGoorty. His life WAS like a movie script. One small problem: he was primarily a 3C player, but his antics were fascinating, and of course a tragic ending is always compelling for Hollywood.
Speaking of tragedies, another compelling story would be Harold Worst's life and...
