brand new Schon shaft won't fit a new Schon butt?!

I had this same problem once. It was a 30" that came (solo) from Schon. Fit on one of my butts, but not the other. The shaft insert was a hair wide, just at its base, down where it meets the joint face. Just enough to prevent fully seating - left about 1mm gap. All of the other Schon shafts...

Need help changing weight on Schon cue

I tried a ratchet handle with a screw bit, and that didn't work for me. A minute or two with the soldering iron, that was enough to loosen the glue. But mine was an aluminum bolt, and aluminum and SS threads are always more likely to grab and stick to stuff, than steel. However, be...

Protecting hardwood floors when installing 9' Diamond in house

I used 10mil shower pan liner. Moved the table after a few years and there was no sign of wear. But this was thick old hardwood, not laminate like is common now. Maybe thicker pad is warranted, for that stuff. I found it by the foot at a plumbing store, but I think Lowe's has it too.

Diamond tables don't seem that great.

Maybe the premise of this thread has already been pegged as nonsense, but in case there are any who are reading this, wondering which is the better table to buy... Up until a month ago, I didn't get the Diamond hype, at all. I'd always been a GC, Anniversary nut and just didn't get it...

    Sight replacement vs finishing

Yes, all the scratches came out. Wet sand. If not, definitely wear a mask.

    Sight replacement vs finishing

When mine came from Classic Billiards, I noticed those fine scratches too. I assumed they were just milling marks / sand scratches. I just wet sanded mine, with 600 to start, then 1000-1500-2000 and then really worn out 2000. Probably overkill, but it worked. I installed mine after the finish.

    Proform temporary install

Sent you a PM. When I pulled cloth that a mechanic had lightly glued with 3M 77 at pockets, the glue had picked up debris and I think it would have been difficult to remove that. Plus it had hardened / dried, wasn't very sticky anymore. Maybe if it was like contact cement it could be...

What would cause a slate to split apart?

I got a T-Rail table in 2004. Before that, it was assembled and in play. When I tore it down, no cracks. It was in storage from 2004-2016. Finally set up in 2016, still no cracks. When it was re-felted late last year, there was a crack, from end rail bolt to slate seam - fixed that. An...

    8’ OS Brunswick 20th Century, circa 1940

8’ oversize Brunswick 20th Century, from 1940. Posting this for a league mate. Purchased around 1976, table hasn’t moved since. Was never commercially installed, two previous owners had as home tables. Cushions were replaced about 10 years ago - I don’t know the brand, nor did I check...

Nice 9' Brunswick Pfister in Northern CA

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/spo/d/fairfield-antique-pool-table-finders-fee/6863974224.html This guy's offering $1k finder's fee if you can locate him a buyer, presumably only if at his asking of $12k. Nice, but pretty steep so I wouldn't even know where to start, maybe one of you can be...

    What Model Olhausen is This?

**I'm not a mechanic** I would think that particle board slate backing isn't great for stapling into, more than once or twice. What say you, actual mechanics?

Sub-Rail extensions on an old Brunswick, done.

Good question. I would have to measure them again, carefully this time. Maybe one reason is that in the foldover of cloth, I didn't trim a triangle out, so there's extra cloth thickness at the throat. I just copied the folds the mechanic had done previously. All the documentation I found...

Sub-Rail extensions on an old Brunswick, done.

Unfortunately the GCs I play on all the time are small. One of them is 4 1/4", one other is 3 7/8", and the rest are all 4". Yes, it hasn't been fun and I had to do something to improve my accuracy. Previously my table at 4 5/8, played larger because of the shorter shelves. And, also that...

Sub-Rail extensions on an old Brunswick, done.

I used a serrated knife, then an angle air grinder with 120 roloc disc, and finished with a sanding block. Soapy water on that knife definitely helps. I tested first on old cushions, a sharp razor blade works great for the initial cut - I could have saved a bunch of time - but I didn't feel...

Sub-Rail extensions on an old Brunswick, done.

Sub-rail extensions are done, rails covered and table is back together. When setup by a mechanic before, the cushions were installed too high. Now that cushion noses are at the correct height, it plays much better overall. It still banks short compared to GCs of course, but it is better. I...
