U.S. Open Events Won by Shane Van Boening

I mean the original post says SVB has won 20 US Open titles. Maybe one day the others will get the prestige associated with 9 ball US Open but I don't consider them US Opens until then. Heck, half the players from the 10 ball didn't even stay for the rest of the events. Winning one of those...

    Are Fargo Ratings inflating?

What I find crazy is the number of players who dropped 30-70 points in a two year period.

U.S. Open Events Won by Shane Van Boening

Curious why you picked 760+. Shane is close to 80 points higher than that. What percentage were 800+ excluding Shane?

U.S. Open Events Won by Shane Van Boening

I would say that most of the best players were missing from the one pocket and banks at least. No gorst, pagulayan, frost, filler, orcollo, gomez etc. His main competition was Chohan who he beat for the hot seat. Decent fields but far from the best of the best attended. I don't see them as...

U.S. Open Events Won by Shane Van Boening

Orcollo does the same thing. I think it comes down to all of the players mentioned don't shoot until they are 100% ready. Something feels off and they get back up and start over which is what we should all do but I know I don't.

    Are Fargo Ratings inflating?

Say I average 20 games per tournament. Races to 4 and 3. Then it would take 140 tournaments. One tournament every single week for two years would be just over 2,000 games. Add one league night at 10 games on average and yes that would be 3,000 or so games. That is a lot of pool.

    Are Fargo Ratings inflating?

How many players have logged 2,800 games in the last two years? I would have to play a crazy number of tournaments to get that. I doubt players who have a decreasing rating are logging that many games. It seems like the ratings are just becoming more accurate as players get more games in the...

    Mike Sigel

I find his net worth reasonable. He has posted on FB that he retired because there wasn't enough money to be made in pool. He focused on things that made more money.

Mark Wilson - CB or OB Last - Age Old Issue

Rodney Morris said that people who look at cue ball last have better cue ball control. Players who look at object ball last are better shotmakers. He said he and Efren look at cue ball last. Jeremy Jones also says cue ball last. I think you can do either if you are able to stay focused on...

So 100 point difference is 2-1 in games. If a 600 plays all 500s he should win 66% of games. If a 600 plays all 700s, he should win 34% of games. I'd say it is pretty much spot on. I have a bunch of games vs three 740s and my win percentage is 30-31%. I am a bit over 600. I may beat the...

Need to estabish a legit fargo for myself. How do I do that if all I have is 3 sessions of APA data?

They say it isn't accurate until you have 200 games. Personally I think you need around 1k games to get a good idea. Your fargo is probably close to whatever it is for someone you play even with.

Earlier I thought you said you beat the 9 ball ghost occassionally? How in the world you gonna beat the 10 ball ghost? Maybe a race to 2. Post a race to 9 vs 9 ball ghost. See how that goes.

The 500 would need to average 4 or 5 balls on the break to run as many as the 600. It seems like you don't know what the difference between a 500 and 600 is after the break.

    Question about Jose Parica

That's kind of how I feel regarding svb. I think there are some players who play better than he does after the break but that doesn't take away from how great he is. Parica was 50 when derby city started. He won a bank title at 52, one pocket title at 54 and all around at 53 in a year he...

    Question about Jose Parica

Here is an excerpt from his wiki page: Parica had won over 100 international tournaments, including titles in the United States, the Philippines and Japan. In 1988, Parica participated in the Japanese circuit, winning the All Japan Championship in 9-Ball. That same year in Japan, he won the...

    Question about Jose Parica

There are several threads on azb about this topic. Should be easily found by searching Jose Parica. Seems the consensus is that Parica was the better 9 ball player.

Us 10 ball Why the single elimination finals?

Which is more important? The players or the fans? The players put up the money to play these tournaments along with travel expenses and everything else. I think there would be less participants if the whole tournament was single elimination because weaker players may not think it is worth the...

Tip Contact Location Difference between 9-Ball and 14.1

You seem to put in the time and money to improve. Have you read Mark Wilson's book? If a player reduces their errors in tip contact from 1mm to 0.02mm consistently, then they would show crazy improvement in their game. You would have to be a good player in the first place to be as little as...

    What a tool!!!

It wasn't a foul. She turns the table over to him. You can play tournaments and just play by the rules being used. If she called the combo like others do in similar situations, there wouldn't have been an issue.

Tip Contact Location Difference between 9-Ball and 14.1

Did you know that missing your spot on the cue ball by 1mm left or right can result in a missed shot? I think people can learn tons using rpms to work on draw stroke and how your contact point may change compared to what you thought it was as stroke speed increases. Take breaking. How close...
