Players of the past and their Fargo...

Nick Varner is a 788 at 75 years old. I think most of those old school players where in the 810-830 range in their primes. I think they could have been higher if they had the knowledge of safes, kicking etc that players have access to today. Anyone over 800 can pocket balls and run out...

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

I didnt say a chance to beat a top 5 player. I said equal skill to. Sure a 450 can make it to 550 but they still have zero chance of winning an open tournament. Amateurs in other sports all use handicaps. I am not sure why it is so frowned upon in pool. Handicapped tournaments here are...

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

Comments like this drive me crazy. Every player has a ceiling to how good they can be. No amount of practice will change that. Take number 100 in the world. Do you really think he would play as well as filler or gorst or any of the other top ten if he just practiced more? Why does it...

    Questions for Mike with FargoRate

It seems like central and south america are pretty much unknown unless they come to the US. Gerson won the texas open 10 ball in feb 2022. His road partner Cristopher Tevez finished 2nd in world ten ball 2022. There was a player who came through town not long ago who is 750 with 114 games...

    Savannah Easton

Savannah is traveling the country to play every event she can. I dont think anyone plays more events than her. Sofia seems to travel some but results may be a bit better if she competed at all of the same events.

    T-REX In Hot Seat @ Texas Open 1 P ... " I didn't see Alex in the field,

Roberto has won it a couple times. I am not sure if Alex has. Not many filipinos in Texas this weekend. I think they are waiting to come over for the US Open and playing events closer to that for ones there are currently in the US.

Jack and Jill went up the hill ...

Her nickname is the roadrunner for a reason. Sometimes it looks like she is running around the table. So much energy. I think she is 13 now. She travels all over. I think she was in the hot seat of the ladies event here in february. Thorpe's partner was Kim Sanders. She is the owner of...

    Playing sober, can’t do it

This is an interesting discussion. I could go on and on about the good and bad having been on both sides. You can't know what is going on in another person's mind or how their body reacts to a situation. I can only speak based on my experience. Everyone says they get nervous and just deal with...

    SVB vs Dennis ending

I am sure they both missed shots they were supposed to make but ripping a 9 ball that close to the end was a huge momentum shift. Also rough seeing them both scratch on the break. I thought there was no way that was a good hit on two ball. It just seems odd playing for that amount of money...

    SVB vs Dennis ending

I don't know if these things have been discussed elsewhere but thought this deserved its own thread. The outcome would have been different if Shane had made the 9 ball when up 114-109 I am sure. Even so, there were several things that happened after that which would have led to a different...

Shane may go for same amount in the Calcutta as added money for the event.

    Pool Cue Market

There are several things. Raffles are so popular now that people are less interested in spending the money to actually buy a cue. They would rather gamble on getting a cue for a fraction of what it would cost. This drives the price down for purchasing a cue because the cues just sit on the...

    Timing in pool

I see it as smoothness coming through the cue ball. Starts forward slow and speed increases gradually to impact. You see it on shots where they player generates a big stroke with what looks like minimal effort. I always think of watching Roberto Gomez when he draws the cue ball back 10 plus...

Another Pool Hall Closing (Stixx Rancho Cucamonga)

Sorry to hear this if true. I spent some time there when I lived in Cali. Alex L is a great guy and I wish him the best in the future no matter he does.

    Your highest run/package

9 foot table three pack for 8 ball, 9 ball and 10 ball. Pretty much every time they end due to dry break. Not saying I have had a bunch in each format but More likely to break dry than miss a ball when playing well. 3 cushion high run of 6.
