The Placebo Effect In The Pocket Billiard Industry

I totally agree with the placebo effect, and that any confidence boost is a good one in this game, but I also know that it took a while for me to figure out my preferred cue specs when I first started plying seriously.. wrap, weight, shaft mm, etc. That fueled a lot of cue purchases for sure...

    61" Willie Speed Duff Conversion

I hate to sell this one, but I'm having Willie convert another duff I've had for many years. This one plays amazing and is almost new, but it's less sentimental I guess. I went through many used custom cues before I landed on these Speed conversions... now I can finally stop looking for...

    typical pool player

Why I try to be frugal I'm 28 and I love to play pool. I'm married, so it's my "guy thing" I do most often without the wife, along with golf. Between taking the wife out, socializing with non pool playing friends, and a weekly round of golf...you're talking about a lot of cash! I force...

    APA Sharking Question

"Moving on the money ball" I see this all the time. It doesn't usually get called out, but it's a very subtle way of attempting to either break your opponents concentration, shift the earth's axis ever so slightly, or just as a ritual dance to the pool gods.... your just trying to change...

2 cues left! Open to trades. Both remaining cues are perfectly straight and would make great players. They also get a lot of compliments at the pool hall.

    Relaxing During a Match

Ronnie Allen once said that your nervous energy and adrenaline is your best weapon when you learn how to use it. Once you can harness it, it can be used as a trigger to accomplish amazing things like playing above your normal ability. It's basically "fight or flight". This sounds great and...

    best hitting custom pool cue???

Jack Madden was my automatic answer until I played a Willie Speed dufferin conversion. The BEST shaft I've come across yet. 60", 21oz, 12.5mm. The best money I've spent on pool thus far. Madden has the best balance of any custom I know of though.

    Marking your pocket

LOL! This is awesome. I'm doing this for sure. I actually did put my wallet, phone, keys, and chalk on the last pocket. To my surprise, the guy racked the balls again like he hasn't just lost the match. I said it was over, and he had to get with the scorer to realize he lost 4 straight...

    Marking your pocket

During a match on Monday, during my FIRST game, my opponent was on a hanging eight ball searching for his pocket marker... I said, "Just call your pocket man, I'm cool with it". He said ok, called the obvious pocket and won. On the NEXT game, my opponent left the eight hanging. I then made a...
