    Cuemaker history

Strong point! Martin style! Does anyone know who inspired Martin? From what I understand about him, every cue was different. The cues were made for the player truly custom. Didn’t he measure and watch how a person played before he made a cue for them?

    Cuemaker history

Let’s call them Widow cues, unless someone has a better name. It would be interesting to know if they are different in construction, guess that would depend on who built it. I remember seeing a chart on AZ showing who mentored who, I’ve done a few searches and couldn’t find it again. I do...

    Cuemaker history

Hello all, Been think about how we got to where we currently are with cue design. To my knowledge there are two different styles of cues; 1) Balabushka style 2) DPK style I’m sure there are other cue styles, but those two stand out as vastly different in most ways. Does anyone have a graph on...

Does anyone play with late 70s/early 80s Richard Black cues?

I’ve owned a few throughout the years, recently sold my 81 Hustler and loved that cue. I have three now with a fourth being built. The Hustler has an Ivory joint big pin, it is a good playing cue, all the cues I’ve owned of his have played good, some better than others. My player now is a big...

What Youngsters Want Old Masters Cues?

I’m 35 and have been collecting cues for about 10 years (or so). My father was a player and had a couple cues from someone I consider a master, growing up that cue was always something I held in pretty high regard. When I was old enough (had a good enough job) to afford a custom cue, it was one...

    Cues rarely seen for sale

Richard Black cues. Considering how many cues he has made I rarely see them for sell on here, eBay has a couple that have been there for awhile.

Ron Thomas 2x4 Black Elephant Case

I think your price is fair, right now anything that is over $1,000 is very difficult to get a fair price on. Cue/Case market is very soft for higher end stuff. If I had the cash I would snap this beauty up! One of my favorite style of cases. GLWS!

Is Ron Thomas still making cue cases

    Heat treating steel

Is there a difference in hit with a brass pin vs a ss? I agree that Damascus would be nice to see used more, very cool look and the patterns are limitless.

    Heat treating steel

Just as a “for instance”, if a maker uses a steel pin in the A-joint. Do you think there would be a difference between a brass one and a SS one? I’m not saying you are wrong and I respect the work you do. But, if choosing different woods for the butt affect the cue, I’m assuming different...
