Shane is out!!!!! Yu Lung wins 11-8

Wu Yu Lun was one of the top guys during that time as well, but Wu Chia Ching had more potential and firepower in him. They converted him to play snooker for the Asian Games, and I'm not too sure what happened with him after. Unlike Ko and Wu Chia Ching, Wu Yu Lun wasn't trained at an early age...

Shane is out!!!!! Yu Lung wins 11-8

I like Chang's game a lot. Simple yet effective. He's by no means a "superstar" player in Taiwan despite having been ranked number one in the country several times. Wu actually had a lot of hype in Asia back in 05 already - he was drilling Chao Fong Pang in the Taiwanese league games. The most...

    Tired of It (A Rant)

It is very common to not be able to bring your A game against much weaker players.

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

Throw in Chang Hao Ping and Lee Kun Fang in the mix. Both were world class players in that era as well. Lee Kun Fang used to frequent my local room in Taiwan when I was there, still plays a strong game.

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

During those years, pool hasn't really quite reached the level that it has been on for the past 15-20 years. Chao won the WPC in 92 and that helped the upward moving trend of pool in Taiwan until about the early to mid 2000s. Physically, Taiwan has changed a lot since and you will probably...

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

I agree. Shane definitely is more seasoned and plays more strategically and probably has more tricks in his bag. Ko tends to get a little wild when the patterns are getting complicated.

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

I THINK Chang lost a match earlier in the World 9 ball. Don't take my word for it.

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

How long ago was this? I remember back in the late 90s in my hometown Kaohsiung, there were an estimated 1000 pool halls in a county with 2-3 million people. Of course, this was the time when Chao was winning championships and Yang was on the rise with a couple of other world class players that...

    Racking clock

Hopefully that is the case. I like neutral rackers using the magic rack. It takes away a lot of the BS and speeds the game up.

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

You have to understand that most of these matches are being played during working hours in Taiwan and China. On another note, there is the language barrier. Sadly, I can imagine my fellow Taiwanese brothers having trouble setting up the stream on their computers. ANOTHER reason is that Taiwan is...

    Racking clock

I think this could be implemented IF using the magic rack OR playing on fairly fresh cloth. However, in your opinion, what do you think should happen if a player is able to manipulate the rack and the other player wants him to rerack?

    2014 World 9-Ball Championship

All I know is that I'm looking forward to the race to 25 match with SVB vs Ko. That should be an exciting match up playing on SVB's de facto home.

Shane is out!!!!! Yu Lung wins 11-8

I definitely agree. You can "perform" consistently in pool, but your results may differ. The timing of the mistakes and "rolls" can easily change the outcome of a match played in this format and equipment. Personally, I believe 9 ball is too easy for these pros to play such a short race...

No mention of Chang's weirdass handsake at the end?

I've had this conversation quite a few times: Me: "I'm Taiwanese." Other guy: "I love Thai food!!"

    Fights In Poolrooms Over E-Cigs?

E-cig has helped me quit cigs cold turkey and I appreciate it a lot. However, I'm somewhat against using it indoors in public spaces whether its unhealthy or not. The vapor and scent lingers in the room and can be very annoying to others.

    Weird aiming trick

I think by the end of your pool session, you will need a trip to the optometrist.
