Please help me - Who is Yu Lung Chang???

Chang Yu Lung has been a top pro in Taiwan for quite awhile now. As another poster mentioned, I believed he was ranked #1 in Taiwan for a couple times. The best two Taiwanese players now at Chang Jung Lin and Ko Pin Yi and they play well in all kinds of table set up. I've found that Chang Yu...

What Countries "Subsidize" Players and How?

That is correct. Baseball and basketball are actually the most popular Taiwanese sports. Pool was doing really well in the late 90s to the mid 2000s, but its been declining since. On the professional level, Taiwan is still up there - probably not as strong as 10 years ago. However, on the...

    Taiwanese Players in the U.S.

Daniel, you can check out this link from the All Japan Championship two years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeuKtbceeKc Ko Pin Chung defeated Dennis Orcollo 9-5 and I believe Pin Chung was around 16 at the time.

    Taiwanese Players in the U.S.

I would add "multiple winner of the San Miguell/Guinness Asian 9 Ball Tour" to Chang's resume. He won four legs in a row once, and that is against some of the best players in the world at the time.

    Xiaoting Pan and Instant Replay

The second one is kind of ridiculous. I won't be surprised if there is something behind it.

    World junior championship

On a further note. Taiwan always produces world class players at a young age.. however, they seem to hit a plateau when border-lining the very top class. For example, Taiwan always has 10-15 players that I personally believe are capable of capturing tournaments, however, only a few actually...

    World junior championship

I'm not surprised by his win. He is already a world class player. I think theres a youtube clip of a match where he beat Dennis Orcollo in the All Japan open last year. Although not as well known as his older brother, he certain does play a strong game!

Dennis is the US Open 1p Champion~

That's a good comparison. You could also compare snooker to rotation pool, with snooker player's potting accuracy vs pool player's table knowledge - however, there is more different between 9 ball and 1p than 9 ball and snooker. Like I said I haven't watched too much of the top 1p guys play to...

Corteza on the Race! Pictures tells all tales (Dechaine-Corteza Match)

The Pinoys are stronger players. The Chinese players are very good but don't finish tournaments strong.

    Your post is spot on.

Dennis is the US Open 1p Champion~

Fair enough. I haven't watchced enough of the top one pocket players to make a good speculation on this. It is just from the short amoutn of 1p Ive watched (maybe 100 hrs or so), it seems to be that the "1p specialists" have difficulties running out 8 balls, and fail to pocket balls that are...

New way to score the ghost...

There was a game that I played in Taiwan that you broke 15 balls. Run first 10 not in order, but you have to keep the last 5 in order. 1 pt for each of the first 10 balls, and 2 pts for the last 5.

Dennis is the US Open 1p Champion~

What about the other top ranked rotation pool players in the world? A lot of them can pocket and control the cue just as good as Dennis. I'm only tlaking about the top say 30 players in the world.

10 Ball Break World Catching SVB?

There has already been guys breaking this way for 10 ball in Asia. It just seems like Shane is the only one doing it because Americans rarely watch international pool. I do think Shane has one of the best breaks though, but it is not enough advantage for him to be considered the best 10 ball player.

Dennis is the US Open 1p Champion~

I think superior firepower is enough because one mistake you make could mean the other play running out the game, whereas a seasoned 1P player who knows all the moves have difficulties pocketing some of the tougher shots. The moves may work for people who do not have the pocketing consistency...

Who the f**k is Ko Pin-Yi?

Nah, the little bro Pin-Chung is already out of the tourney but he did string an 8 rack. Ko Pin Yi will play Lee Van today at 3.
