Whichever rack is used to draw the line - the line should be drawn around the OUTSIDE edges of the rack.

TSA not allowing cues on planes?

No - flight attendant unions had no gripe over allowing pool cues - their complaint was all about the proposed new rule in 2013 allowing pocket knives. Can’t blame them - it was still too soon after 9/11.

Can you provide a video link - or be more specific about what they do with the thumb that is unusual?

    Cue Ball Damage/Break Cue

It’s easy to figure out - get a fairly new cue ball that has no scuff marks and break a few racks with your leather tipped playing cue, then compare that to a few racks of breaking with a phenolic tipped break cue. If it’s a high quality cue ball, like an Aramith red circle, damage will clearly...

J pechauer Cues , Are they decent for a Custom Cue or just another Factory deal

I have had several Pechauer cues. Pechauer makes high quality production cues. Great cue for the price. I group, in no particular order, Mezz, Pechauer ,Schon and Predator as the top production cue makers. Solid company that makes a solid cue. Considering the quality and beauty of their...

    Keeping Ferrules Clean

Sure - cleaning the ferrule will help. But using chalk that is too deep and using the incorrect “drilling” method of chalking WILL matter. Sounds like you don’t understand the correct method of chalking, because drilling can scratch and will discolor the ferrule.

Meeting a Serial Killer Hunter - Diary of a Pool Hustler

Another great story CJ. Have been enjoying all your stories from the road - and want to hear more. So - if you are really driving - and it looks like you are - be very careful on those busy roads without that shoulder harness on.🚘

    Color commentator for Mosconi Cup

I say no to Ra Hanna. I appreciate his enthusiasm and think he is good in one on one player interviews, but his overly hyped style really starts to grate before long when doing match commentary.

    Question (Help!)

If it hit any part of the pocket - that counts the same as contacting a rail - so legal hit.

Top pool moments in my lifetime

Thanks Tinman for an interesting topic. Thanks Jay for the Johnston City story - too bad the Johnston City era predated having much quality video available.

    Ball Polisher

Yes - stick with a polisher ( like the Diamond) that separates the balls as they rotate. It cannot be good in the long run for the balls to rotate and rub against each other as they are cleaned (as in most homemade bucket polishers) . That will inevitably lead to wear that reduces the ball...

The road to recovery day 1

Ok - Ray at 56 years and Poolfan at 42 years - sounds like you are talking like your best years are behind you. Not so - you have many good pool playing years ahead of you. And with good shotmaking practice and good cue ball control and position practice, you can improve tremendously going...

And at $250 - the price is right as compared to any of the carbon fiber shafts.

    New shaft from OB

I have been hitting with an OB Phoenix 12.8mm shaft for a few weeks. Was using the Predator3 before. Nothing but good things to say about the Phoenix. The squirt/deflection seems to be at least equal or less than the Predator 3, so it has been an easy transition. The hit is very solid, with...

TSA not allowing cues on planes?

Yes - around that time the TSA proposed new rules that included allowing pool cues to be carried onboard again, but another proposal Included was to allow small knives onboard( I know - WTF. ). There was so much pushback and protest about the knife issue that the TSA deep-sixed the entire...

Is Touch Of Inside "the teacher"

CJ - can you clarify this - I have watched most of your TOI videos. I have practiced using TOI with inconsistent results. I understand that one of the principles is that the squirt/deflection will create the cut angle - depending on speed of the shot. Do you use a low deflection shaft? -...

Do we still need different cue balls on tv?

IMO the worst problem when watching on TV and not in person is the pink 4 ball. I have 4K Hi - Def large TV’s and good eyesight, yet most of the time I cannot tell the 4 ball and the 5 ball apart. Most of us like to play the “how would I run these balls” game, but that’s pretty hard to do...

Do you ever notice a really bad smell coming from your cue?

Have you been playing in smoke filled pool halls? If so, that is most likely the cause.

    Played pool today. Some info.

Yea - the handshake has to go - I would guess that a hand shake ( how long since that person washed their hands?) is much more likely to spread germs than a hug.

    Played pool today. Some info.

Speaking of shaking hands - anybody else beside me notice how many guys don’t wash their hands when leaving a restroom? Way too many. I hope that those guys will permanently change their behavior after this pandemic is over. I have preferred to dap instead of shaking hands for several years...
