Cue advice for a new player

For a new player? Here's my take: 1) Find a cue you LOVE the look of that is within your budget. Something that makes you go, "Yeah, that's cool. I can see myself shooting with that." 2) Play and practice with it. Then do that some more. Get used to the feel of it - balance, taper, how it feels...

Are Corey and Melling the 2 best at dissecting an 8 ball rack ever?

True enough, and that's partly (maybe mainly?) my fault. Sorry 'bout that. I'd argue that Bergman is as good as any of them at taking apart an 8-ball rack. Breaking one? Maybe not so much.

There's the elitism again. Who tf is arguing that pool is too easy?? As an everyday league hack ... not me, that's for sure. When I watch guys like Filler, Gorst, or SVB run out racks, I don't think, "Pshaw, this game is too easy!" Mostly I think, "Man, it must be fun to be that fkn good at pool."

I mean, the Iowa event last month sure felt like a pro event. Shane took home $10k in prize money between the Shootout and the Open. I guess it wasn't, though, since it wasn't on 9' tables.

Well, like it or not, Ultimate Pool and Ultimate Pool USA are a thing, and are definitely growing. Fun events, and a popular local league scene that is expanding. Man, the levels of elitism and gatekeeping around here are kinda ridiculous sometimes.

Bergman and Matlock are both stone killers at barbox 8ball.

    Furry friends in the house

I get where you're coming from. But man, it's def non-pool related, and thus NPR is the place for it. If you wanna change the NPR culture, you gonna have to do it in NPR.

Me too. When you're 7 beers deep and the edible kicks in, you do what you gotta do.

    Ultimate Pool USA

Bob, you don't think the brisk pace is because of the rules? The shot and match clocks, I mean. I would think the match clock helps a lot with organization as well. TD doesn't have to worry about a pair of turtles holding up the whole shindig.

Anyone clean their tips on the carpet before putting it back in the case?

I wipe off my chalk, but I just use a bar napkin, not the floor. I mean, I don't think I'd grab a nearby curtain and start wiping things down with it, either. 🤷‍♂️

Why are Predator cue extensions so damned expensive?

Got this one recently (8.3") for my Roadline. I've been pleased with it. 33 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQXYYB72?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1

Is it some sort of weird flex to leave the template rack on the table as long as possible?

    Funny pic/gif thread...

So I'm finding Ultimate Pool to be hella fun to watch (probably would be to play, too, but I haven't yet) but ... the refs really ought to insist on a different jersey design.

Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

I've found money only really becomes important when you don't have any.
