    Judge Judy pool league stiffing

I was waiting for them to throw in the "hustler" word. Luckily, I didn't have to wait that long. It's always funny seeing situations you're familiar with on shows like this. Like when Richie Richeson was on there.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Really? It looks like ivory to me. It just has a lot of patina and finish over it. I can see what looks like end grain in the photo below.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

I'd say this is the most likely answer. Probably a pretty nice cue that was "made even better" by someone with a drill press and inlay materials. The last realistic way I know of would be to check for a name under the wrap. I wouldn't personally bother with that. I'd just chuck it up on a...

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

I'm starting to think you might want to change your handle to Chopdoc Sherlock! 😂 Side note, I had a girlfriend for a while who would get the tiniest piece of information about some kind of situation then extrapolate an entire story around it made entirely of wild ass assumptions. That ended...

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

A lot of you guys have way more hands-on experience with the older Joss (East and West) cues than I do. I'm more familiar with both shops' works from the 90's on. But have you guys ever seen work this rough from either of them? And I'm not talking about the finish. Rough and off center...

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Auerback... I picked up an Auerback with the gold JA logo on the butt cap in a trade probably 25 years or so ago and still have it. Cocobolo forearm and butt sleeve with a birdseye maple handle. Nice cue that people mistake for Bluegrass from across the table.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

So, did someone put an ivory butt cap on an import? Have cheap imports ever came in with ivory butt caps? I'm legit asking. I've never seen it. But I'd bet I've not seen way more things on this earth than I have seen. So anything is possible. Overall, that's a pretty odd cue. And...

Which are your favourite quotes from players?

I've posted it on here before, but I'm 99% sure it was Ronnie Allen on an Accu Stats video... "Nine ball players playing one pocket are like dogs on the freeway. They don't last long."

    Calcutta

For the most part that's fine. You're dealing with tournaments where the majority of the players are probably regulars and know what's up. I guess what I was getting at is I'd be pretty honked off if the payout was magically changed to something nobody had ever seen before.

    Calcutta

I'd be all for this or any other payout format as long as it was posted beforehand. Even if it states that the payouts will change based on the number of entries or calcutta money brought in, I'm fine with it because I know what I'm getting into. But being able to decide the day of the...

    Downtown Chicago Poolhalls

Ah, yeah. I didn't know how "downtown" you meant. That's a pretty decent hike from McCormick.

If you're anywhere near the airport go to Chris's. It's not too far east on Milwaukee Avenue.

    I'm losing faith in UPS

I gave up on them a lot time ago for any type of package. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them sometimes when I make online purchases. I ordered a tool recently that was shipped USPS. It showed up on their site as "Delivered" but it was, in fact, not delivered to my house. I filed a claim at...

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

I like that idea. Unrelated... I just bought my 1986 Sport Craft K Mart cue from a buddy of mine for $9,676,412. I might have overpaid a little but I really liked the cue and now I always get to break first. 😂

Cuemakers who do really dark brown shafts?

Just a heads up if you didn't already know, it's extremely likely your cue would play/hit very differently with a keilwood shaft than it does with its current shaft. Like Skor mentioned, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to see if a cue maker could just make the shaft with matching ringwork...

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

Define "close" and in what setting? The reason I ask is "close" is a very subjective idea. Just for funsies I took a couple of minutes to try to track down a full pro tournament bracket that included scores. The first one I found was for The 2023 American Straight Pool Championship...

Wood Polisher on a custom cue

Renaissance Wax is the real deal. Kind of stinky and pricey, but amazing and worth it. And I wish I didn't feel compelled to add this next part. But I do because not everyone is great at reading instructions or following them. Myself included. Renaissance Wax does not, cannot, will not impart...

After you win a game a pool...

For starters, yes. Then I grab onto the light, pull myself up into the drop ceiling, find a hatch to the roof, then get up there. If I can go higher I will.

    Mystery Cue

I mean... Normal is relative to the individual. My point was that if one's blood work comes back within ranges that the doctor expects, it rules out a lot of possible issues.

    Mystery Cue

I don't think anyone here is arguing that a cue with uneven points couldn't play well. The reason I find those characteristics interesting it that they essentially rule out cue makers who we "know" wouldn't let cues with those defects leave their shops. Pointing out these characteristics isn't...
