Don't cut 'into' the large end. That is called the button or the crown and is valued as it is. You could cut it off the rest of the horn and sell as a seperate piece (keep those little fingers on the crown piece). That rounded end can be polished and some scimshaw that piece and make belt...

Thanks for the repies. Eightballjunkie...you explaination makes sense and I did think about the possibility of a gap between the faces of the phenolic tip and the ferule but when I put it together, I used a calmp to apply pressure so I dismissed that idea. Varney Cues...I did infact purchase...
