Pool Hall Photos From All Over.

But it used to be the Golden Crown Pool Hall as well as billiards supply. The Stockle family owns it (or, at least, they used to). They also owned the Mecca Pool Hall, but that was in a different location. A buddy of mine is the son of the couple who started the business in 1958. Howard

    Congratulations to Jay Helfert, Champion!

It looks as though the "Turd Ferguson Invitational" was a roaring success and a hell of a good time. Makes me kind of regret moving to the boonies. Jay, you are dead right about the great playing tables Donny produces. The GC V I got from you and had reworked by Donny can't be beat.

I want to thank you gentlemen for reminding me of why I fell in love with pool in the first place. Ahhh, the memories. Howard

    Congratulations to Jay Helfert, Champion!

Let's see, now. Couldn't make a thing - until he had to, and then he won. Mitch, it sounds to me like the old guy hustled you. Still got those moves, eh, Jay?

Only 6 KAMUI Gator Grip Tools (ebony/maple)

Tony, The Gator tool came in the mail today. I watched the video, then quickly and easily reshaped and dressed up a Kamui black medium and an Everest. This thing works really well; no effort at all to get an even shape and perfect texture. I'll try it next on Triangles, and if it works there...

If I could only have one cue, I would probably be too depressed to play.

All I Can Say is HOLY BUCKETS!!!!!!

An inexact (but close) calculation shows that it would take approximately 0.18 ounces of gold to cover my Diamond rack to a thickess of .00012". At $1,200 per ounce, that's $216 worth of gold (unless I screwed up).

    new avatar-old bar team

Cool picture. 1967 was a great year to be 23 years old. Anyone who was 23 that year must certainly be a wonderful person.

    Forum locking up

For much of the day, it has been almost unusable. I just get up and go in the other room and play a few racks, then come back and try it again. Life's tough.

    Should Cue Chalk Be Frozen?

Absolutely not! Unlike babies and puppies, chalk should never be put in the freezer.

Cue Tip Replacement (DIY or let the pro do it)

It's always best to have a pro do it, unless you are experienced at it yourself. Of course, if you live in an area like the one I do, there are no pros within hundreds of miles. (I'm getting tired of buying a new cue every time the tip wears out. :p)

    What's under your pool table?

Any Edgar Allan Poe fans? Beneath the table, on the floot Lies my wife's cat, named Eleanor. Merely this, and nothing more.

    Gold Crown V leg diameter?

The foot levelers are 8 inches. The quick set levelers are 8-1/4 inches. The cork on the bottom of the quick set levelers is about 8 inches. I don't have the proper tool to get a dead-on measurement with the table on the floor, so the above may be off by 1/8 inch. -Howard

    table speed

This sounded interesting, so I gave it a try. I have a 9-foot Brunswick with 3-month-old 860 on it. In one direction, the ball consistently rolled 35 inches, and in the other direction it was 33 inches. Don't know what it means, but there it is. (the shafts were 12.75 mm)

    Break Cues

This is my newest dead-blow hammer. It is about 35 years old. It's true that the shot in the hammer head moves very little, but that's not the point. My point (and maybe I didn't express it very well) is that the dead-blow mechanism is designed solely to prevent bouncing of the hammer. Because...
