    Paul Sumrall

I have three of Paul's cues and they are dynamite players. Solid, hard-hitting cues. I don't doubt that anyone can play his best game with one of Paul's cues. I bought my Sumrall cues used from other players and sent one of them to Paul for a refinish and rewrap. I talked to Paul on the phone...

    Avatars

My avatar is a coin that I used as a pocket marker back when gold was cheap. The coin has been in my family since it was new in 1904 and was given to my uncle as a birth present.

New Aramith Tournament Duranith Ball Set.....?

I've had a set of the Aramith Tournament balls for a couple of years and they are excellent balls. I've never seen another ball that stayed so clean. They just seem to repel the chalk and dust. I've never had to use polish on them, just a little Brillianize in the polisher and they come out like...

What is your preferred wrap on your favorite playing cue?

Elephant ear is my favorite, followed by full-belly lizard. If I can't have one of those wraps, then I prefer wrapless to anything else.

I find that when I put the vodka in me, I skid much more than normal.

    crowned slate

I had an end slate on a Gold Crown V that was slightly crowned. Donny drilled and screwed it in the center and it's perfect.

    Is this a McDermott Cue?

You may have picked up a Reed and Prince screwdriver. They look very similar to a Philips, but the angle is different.

    Arnotq custom cues

I've bought two cues from Arnot. The first one I bought about ten or twelves years ago came from stock. He changed the wrap for me and the cue was delivered within a week. The other I bought three or four years ago, and it took three or four months to complete (I don't remember exactly). It was...

    Anyone here make canes?

Thanks to all of you for your replies. It looks like I have several options that will do the job for me. As soon as I find out exactly what length cane I am going to need, I'll be in business here. Once again, AZB has proven why it's the best damn web site on the internet! -Howard

    Anyone here make canes?

Okay, now I'm officially an Old Fart. Arthritis now makes it so painful to walk around the table that I've had to cut my practice time from eight hours a day to two or three. Have any of you cue makers ever built a cane for pool players? You know, something that looks like a custom cue so that...

    Gold Crown pocket noise

On my GC V, I just folded up some scrap cloth and put it in the bottoms of the pockets. Less noise and no more ball spin.

    Thoughts on a 17'10" x 22'2" space?

My pool room is 17' x 23' with a 9-foot GC. Plenty of room for playing comfortably. My only problem is that there are four doors - one in each corner - which limits the seating arrangements. You should have no problems.

I dealt with the issue this way: Wood under the table and carpet in the rest of the room.

    Seriously..that non-rack rack?

Sean is absolutely right about the geometry. There is a "head ball" at each of the three 120-degree positions. However, after using these racks every day for the past two years, I stand by my post. It never made any sense to me that there would be one preferred position (for the reasons that...

    Seriously..that non-rack rack?

I use the Magic Rack on my home table for practice, just to keep the table from developing divots in the rack area. For this, it works great. I have had three of the 8-ball racks, and found that the rack has only one position in which it racks properly. Because of the angles at which the...
