    Good Bye Cruel World

He made it! Wow! It's been over ten minutes since Jay posted last. What a man! What will power! What restraint! You just have to admire a guy like that.

    Good Bye Cruel World

Hey, I knew you were strong and had immense self-discipline, but this is really impressive!!! I started my stop watch to see if you can make it for the full ten minutes.

    Pictures

More pics Grady, I noticed that you are a Facebook friend of Bill Burton. I spent some time with him a couple of weeks back and he brought TONS of pics with him. You might want to check with him about pics you might use for your "History of Pool" photos.

    From Grady Mathews

Grady, I am glad to see a post from you that is 100% positive and classy. Age may have subtracted a smidgen from your pool game but you can still be a scholar and a gentleman!

    Fatboys Pool Room-Part 1, Part 2 will be in a about 10 daysposted i

Eric, the place wasn't really finished when I was out there in 2008 and I always wondered how it would look when the finishing touches were applied. From those photos, I can see that your guys did an outstanding job! I know you must love the estate, but I can understand that after 20 years you...

OK, one more thread about eye dominance

Great post!!! Thanks, Willie, I really appreciate the information you provided and like the idea that one can make some choices here and that it's not all "hard wired."

OK, one more thread about eye dominance

I'm right-handed and when I shoot a gun (haven't done it in years, but I remember how), I aim with my right eye. Using most any test for eye dominance, I am right eye dominant. But playing pool, I am clearly LEFT EYE dominant!? A possible explanation for this strange phenomenon is that my left...

    photos

Bobby wanted the pics for a book, but I think it's too late to send any to him at this point. Last I heard, the manuscript had been finalized. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to shoot him a PM.

I manage to do worse than the “worst case scenario!”

Thanks for your kindness! I made the OP because I thought it was a bit humorous and also to remind myself that when a session goes past 3 hours, my play usually suffers. I turned to Google to find the exact Walter Hagen quote and found that in the 1956 book, The Walter Hagen Story, Walter said...

Players of the past vs. those of today – We need a time machine!

I think Eddie Taylor may be the exception to the idea that past and present top players would play at about the same level given time to acclimate to the equipment. In my opinion, Eddie, in his prime and brought to 2010 with our time machine, would be the top bank pool player on the planet.

Players of the past vs. those of today – We need a time machine!

Suppose there were a time machine that was available to pool players and had been around for 35 years. Buddy Hall, back in 1975 might have been the best 9-ball player on the planet, but he wasn’t getting rich because he had to give up weight every time he played. So he popped into the time...

    My pool cue just disappeared!

An exception There is at least one exception to the rule that your pool cue should disappear and remain outside of your conscious awareness during play -- it's the NEW CUE phenomenon that most of us have experienced. About 12 years ago I was in Dallas and had just bought a new cue, a low-end...

I manage to do worse than the “worst case scenario!”

What I really like about the idea of starting DAA is that anyone dumb enough to appy for membership is automatically dumb enough to get in. No screening will be necessary!:grin-square::grin-square:

I manage to do worse than the “worst case scenario!”

Hey, maybe we can start a support group? I'm thinking your bet per game may be a bit higher than mine. You're not letting R.L. steal from you are you?

I manage to do worse than the “worst case scenario!”

A couple of days ago I was playing a local shortstop and getting big weight. He gave me 8 to 7, the break, and two pics (but no shot after the break unless a ball went in my hole). We had played this same game on four prior occasions and were about dead even in terms of money and game count...

    My pool cue just disappeared!

Back in 1980 I had an article published in Billiards Digest about pool cues. We had interviewed players at the 1980 Rocky Mountain 9-Ball Open about their cues, how they maintained them, and their preferences regarding weight and shaft size. At the end of that article I offered the opinion that...

    Everest Tip vs. Sniper Tip

I believe that tips wax and wane in popularity for reasons that have nothing to do with the actual performance of the tips. When a tip is first introduced, especially if it is from a well known company, lots of people try it out and it may become the "hot" tip of the season. I was talking to a...
