Shameful Refusal to take his half of the money,Jack Potter

No, I haven't spoken with him in years but I'm glad to hear that he seems to be healthy again. Yep, Billy was top dog playing 9 Ball in Dallas back in the mid-1960s. I seem to recall a kid from Tennessee (Campbell?) beating him at bank pool and a bumper pool hustler besting him at bumper pool...

Shameful Refusal to take his half of the money,Jack Potter

Just chiming in Dean, glad to see that you and Jack haven't changed much in the 55 or so years since we were regulars at Cotton Bowling Palace. I was surprised that Jack didn't take the money immediately. :D

OB cues going out of business???

Sounds like good news to me. Especially if you play with OB shafts.

OB cues going out of business???

OB cues I heard earlier today that the company may not be quite dead yet. I bought an OB shaft from an online dealer who had reduced the price on the shaft because they had been told on Oct. 2 that the company had "gone out of business" and therefore there would be no warranty on the shafts. He...

Table #4 Denver Pool Rm....FamilyFunCenter....then Paradise, finally Hanks

I can't provide any useful information regarding the original post but I did play in that pool room many times in the 1963-1964 time period when I was a student at Denver University. Sorry to hear that it is no longer there.

Own a piece of pool history

I've actually played a game of One Pocket with this cue and it played great.

Own a piece of pool history

I am posting this for the cue's owner, Alf Taylor. Eddie Taylor is recognized as the best bank pool player ever. 37 straight banks. Danny Janes made this Joss for him, for his Hall of Fame induction in 95. Eddie was my best friend and road mate. Ebony, silver, ivory and Lapis Lazule. Butt...

    Now here's a follow through!

I'm thinking follow through for two reasons. 1) I think we'd see a cue ball in the frame if it were a reach, and 2) Efren is pretty comfortable using a mechanical bridge when he can't reach a shot.

    Now here's a follow through!

My favorite pic of Efren and Earl

    Now here's a follow through!

Earlier today i got an email from a film maker in the Philippines who is making a documentary on Efren Reyes. She asked if she could use some images of Efren from some galleries I have on the Smugmug Website. Of course, I said yes and wished her luck on the film. As I was sorting through some of...

Jimmy Reid photo and the U.S. 9-Ball Open

They will be using a photo I took of Jimmy Reid back in the 1980s in promoting the U.S. 9-Ball Open. I was happy to allow them to use it for a great tournament that, sadly, I have never attended. Anyone going to attend this year?

Is Max Eberle as big as a goof as I now think?

Yes, to me, that's one of the most obvious problems with the crowd who believe that the moon landings were faked. One of my oldest friends (58 years and counting as of now) has a degree in theoretical astrophysics and was working for NASA in the late 1960s. He was involved with training the...

The Trials and Tribulations of learning one pocket

I wasn't contributing "out of ignorance." I've been around the game of pool and gambling on pool since the early 1960s and don't consider myself "ignorant" on this topic. I was contributing in an attempt to be helpful. Sorry if I offended you.

The Trials and Tribulations of learning one pocket

While I understand the value of playing better players in order to learn the game, there are also less expensive things you can do. Lots of books, articles, and videos on One Pocket are out there. Even YouTube videos where there is good commentary on matches can teach you some moves and tactics...

Alf Taylor and I together after a 52 year gap

The year I should have been a college senior I laid out of school and played pool. All night, every night I was at Cotton Bowling Palace in Dallas, TX. Never a very good player, I returned to college and eventually became a college professor. During my year at Cotton Palace, I associated with...

FS: Fancy Tim Scruggs Sneaky Pete

Melvin, a friend of mine, Rob West, told me that he had hit some balls with this cue. Rob said it was one of the most solid hitting cues he'd ever played with.

The Eddie Taylor Hall of Fame Cue

Eddie Taylor was inducted into the HOF in 94, as the one of the greatest players to ever pick up a cue. This Joss cue was made for his induction by Dan Janes. It is ebony, inlaid with Lapis Lazule, silver and ivory. On the butt is the inscription Eddie Taylor 1995. The case is Jack Justis...
