Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

Yeah, that's the joint, although the protruding (piloting?) part of the shaft insert in the photo looks oddly tilted; mine in real life looks square to the shaft face.

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

Strong eyeroll. I weighed pocket change on the same scale until I pretty much matched the shaft's weight. The scale says 7 quarters, 19 nickels, and a dime weigh 4.79oz together. The US mint says those coins weigh 4.82oz together. So if it makes you guys happy, we can apply a 0.03oz fudge...

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

I think the scale is good, it's a kitchen food scale and seems to be reliable for measuring out ingredients for baking. As I mentioned it's a 30" shaft, so the extra inch would weigh something. Also possibly relevant: Pechauer recalled these shafts after I got my first one, saying the early...

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

Here's mine. Forgot to mention in previous posts, it's also 30" long, so I'm not sure how the extra inch plays into the taper. https://imgur.com/i7WP2E2

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

My Rogue 11.8 has the Pechauer Pro (piloted) joint, and is 4.76 oz. Seems like the joint insert has a big effect on overall weight. EDIT: Also I'm an idiot and forgot to mention it's 30" long, so the extra inch probably weighs something.

    Opinions on two practice sessions

Mike Page says the swings are about equally pronounced at all levels. He attributes your observation above to the idea that an elite player's lowest low is still so good that it's hard to perceive how far below their highest gear it actually is. When you play 100 fargo points below your...

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

I tried to look into what that meant and got nowhere. I own one and I don't know the answer.

Have you cut back on visitors playing with you on your home table?

And I thought about hitting you up to ask if you needed some competition on your table, but that thought went the same place.

Pechauer 11.8 CF weight and deflection?

I have the 11.8, have been shooting with it since last fall, and I was shooting with a Z3 before that. The deflection is as close to identical between the Z3 and the Rogue 11.8 as I can judge. I suppose one of them has to be lower than the other, but I can't tell which.

    Get On the Plane

The biggest game-derailing issues I have are psychological. Pressure and/or frustration can send my head somewhere incompatible with executing my best game. The most effective self-talk I've found to stave off the frustration longer when I'm making mistakes, or get myself back on track when I...

    Get On the Plane

One reminder I have to give myself regularly is "aim standing up". Once I'm down in my stance I'm sighting the shot and making sure everything is pointing where it should, but the part where I visually identify my intended contact point and the corresponding "shot line" should happen when I'm...

Have you cut back on visitors playing with you on your home table?

I'm relieved to see that everyone's being responsible. I underestimated the good people of this forum and whether you all possessed proper perspective. I don't have a table, but I live within literal walking distance of Roy's actual Basement, and he has a world champion staying there begging...

What the desired size in a shaft ? what is your prefernce.

11.8mm right now, and the previous 3 shafts I've had (accounting for 10+ years of playing) have been within +-0.05mm of that. Anything else would probably feel entirely wrong to me at this point. My 11.8mm is a Pechauer Rogue, which has a "modified straight taper", but searching around I can't...

jump shot test and a lesson I learned about practice along the way

Yeah, the jump stroke resists a center-ball strike for me. It's such a short but hard stroke, that it really wants to get very jerky compared to my full stroke. I'm gonna need to put in work on this jump/kick drill I imagine, if I ever expect to jump much more accurately.

"twenty years from now, you'll be looking for a wooden shaft like a hen's tooth"

The analogies to other sports are flawed. As much as we like to focus on equipment in our game, the actual performance of one cue is very like another. Most of the differences we use to prefer one cue over another make no actual difference to the results on the table, and many of the...

    No pool & alcohol?

Definitely feeling jealous of those with a home table about now. Normally I think to myself "I only have so many hours for pool, I'd rather pend them out shooting with others", but now I'm thinking to myself "My pool game is gonna go to shit by the time I can go out to play again, isn't it?"

    Speed of break with dymondwood?

The grain of truth in the statement is that Dymondwood, phenolic tips, and a handful of other cue materials and construction techniques are incorporated specifically to hit the ball harder; to transfer more energy into the CB. If you're not going for a hard break, these things no longer have a...
