    Deuel versus Chohan

If the spot's right, 13 ahead could take a year.

    Deuel versus Chohan

As one data point to base this speculation on, I was sitting next to Tony a few months ago when Shane walked by. Tony, with a sarcastic smile on his face, called out "wanna play some one pocket?", knowing Shane didn't want to play him even. Shane walked by and smirked, but walked back about a...

    Discussion/Cues/Length/Weight/Shafts/Balls

None of the above. It's because they were always better in certain ways and the old guys didn't know it and/or didn't have access to them to find out. More room to accelerate smoothly, and better sighting (more cue in your field of vision). The trade-off is it's easier to make tip placement...

    Carbon Fiber (?)

The finish isn't exactly the same on all of them either. Some are more glossy, some more satin. The glossier they are, the more likely you are to need a glove. Also I believe they get "polished" over time due to sliding through your bridge, making them gradually glossier. I do suspect if...

    Insight on Rouge?

I have the 11.8, but I haven't tried the 12.4. The hit isn't as solid/hard as the Cynergy, and the vibration is much more dampened than the Revo (no 'ping'). I replaced the tip with a harder one than the stock Pechauer medium (which felt a little spongy to me) and it got a lot closer to the...

Three player games that can be handicapped

Oh, you thought you were the strongest player there that night?

Three player games that can be handicapped

You can have the strongest and weakest player pair up as a scotch doubles team, and play against the middle player who's on their own.

    The "Three Time" drill

I love the concept. I often like to tell myself (but my discipline at actually doing it is very spotty) that I need to "whisper to the CB" instead of "shouting at it"; i.e. play shots that closely resemble the CB's natural path, using spin and speed to alter that path as minimally as possible...

Can someone explain what's happening in this video?

He's having her hit a little closer to center and a little harder on the shots where she wants the CB to deflect further to the right. Smooth (softer and higher) follow will follow the OB more directly, whereas punched or "force" follow can get the CB further to the right by using more speed...

Hal Houle, not an aiming thread

You won't have time to say it out loud, that's for sure. But that sort of conscious cue can be remembered before the serve and held in the mind during it, without taking time to mentally enunciate it after the ball is hit.

    Pre-Stance Routine ... A New Approach

This is very wrong. With enough practice it can look extremely natural, but a step-wise approach to getting into stance accurately and consistently, as Dr. Dave outlines in the video, should be a very intentional and conscious part of a player's technique until an effective process is so...

    Are Break Cues Worth It?

The biggest value of a break cue is saving your playing cue from potential damage or excessive wear and tear on the tip. In this sense, literally any cue that isn't your main player provides 100% of this value. If you want a little more power and a little better control on your break, a better...

    The Lag

Most often, it's not rules; the majority of events I've played in specify "flip or lag" rather than requiring one or the other.

    The Lag

I've never seen anyone push back if their opponent wants to lag. I would consider it very poor sportsmanship if they did push back. The coin flip is a convenient shortcut that many prefer for that reason, but if you're going to dig your heels in and insist that the first break be decided by...

    BRUTAL 1p drill..............

That was a seriously impressive attempt. You got better on the final ball than Darren did, before remembering that you were mortal.

    Revo more deflection????

You're not wrong about any of the physics. You may be overestimating how much harder the Revo actually hits the ball; I haven't seen any actual measurements of this but between any two shafts the difference is usually only a few percent. The rest of the perceived difference can come from the...

Mizerak + Mosconi: Dominant left eye directly over shotline

At 9:14 in that video he shoots a shot toward the camera where you can see that for one thing, his head is significantly tilted to his right, and for another thing, his left eye is over the cue. This doesn't necessarily mean he's "left eye dominant", it just means his left eye was over the cue...

Top 10 Safeties You Must Master

It's worth noting that a kick-and-stick, perhaps obviously, requires a very full hit on the object ball, but there's more than one path to that full hit. You can hit the natural (no spin) aim point for a full hit, or you can hit to either side of it and use side spin off the rail to hit the OB...

I named this account after some total asshole I once had the misfortune of playing pool with. Couldn't shoot worth a damn but thought he walked on water. I wonder what ever happened to that guy...

    Luggage for cues

I bought an extra-long simple canvas duffel bag, long enough to fit my case, just for this purpose. I wrap my clothes around the case for extra cushioning. For short trips where I'm not packing that many clothes I've thrown a couple of towels in just for padding.
