Inherited a bunch of old cues

In the 2nd posting, 3rd cue from right (including the one that's cut off) with curly maple and purpleheart is a Ray Schuler. I believe that's an SC190. I gave one to a girlfriend once upon a time. It sold for $395 in 1994. Until Ray's death in 2002, he was the only cuemaker using that joint. He...

    Original Schuler Cue

    She's beautiful. If only I wasn't broke.

What do you think this Ray Schuler thats for sale?

If Stu put any effort into it, it's worth more than a couple Franklins.

    70's Schuler Cue original condition

Schuler cues don't tend to resell that well. You're cue is realistically a refinish away from being a $400 cue. Yeah, it sucks. All the more reason to refinish it and play with it.

I'd love to get the chance to upset a flipper. So far, I've only had luck upsetting everybody else.

How to remove a glued-in weight bolt

I'd go with the soldering iron as well. You could also put an Allen wrench in the bolt and heat the wrench with the torch. Then use Vice Grips to turn the wrench.

    Curing, Hanging Fresh Cut Tree's

Sorry, I was under the impression you were cutting them down to billet size before kiln drying. Not sure why.

    local woods

We have plenty. Sugar Maple grows from the Deep South well into Canada. The curly stuff is statistically rare.

    local woods

Mustn't forget that curly maple is domestic but priced like an exotic for a reason.

    Radial pin

My thoughts exactly. It was designed to move freely without binding. To the OP, it may help if you measure in inches.

    Curing, Hanging Fresh Cut Tree's

I would kiln dry it for sure. I'm not sure I would use the cherry (without coring). It is more prone to splitting than the other two. After sealing the end grain, I would let them air dry for at least a month. Google it. I don't see the benefit to quarter sawing when you consider it's final...

    Rattle in shaft

Leaving it for later could result in a broken tenon, which is a bigger repair than just a ferrule and tip. Yes, you may get away with it, but maybe not.

There's a lot of truth in this post right here.

    Rattle in shaft

I had a wooden shaft develop a buzz. I couldn't pinpoint where the noise came from. I replaced the ferrule and the noise went away.

Oh no, these are brand new logs fresh off the truck that are getting cut to size before any chemicals are added. All they do is cut logs to size. Any wood that gets cut off the sides gets turned into boards. The stuff that gets cut off the end gets tossed into a massive pile and sold for $40 per...

I don't know how many places process railroad ties, but they're pretty convenient. You can look at the cutoffs and see which are crotch pieces. Even if you don't look, you'll sure find out which is straight grain and which is crotch when you try to split them for fire wood and the maul actually...

Linen Based Phenolic Resin - anyone DIY?

When we made our composite boards, we impregnated the fabric before we did anything else. That would greatly reduce the mess. We used a squeegee to get rid of excess epoxy before we did anything else. I'm thinking if you made long strips of fabric, impregnated them with epoxy, and then spun it...
