    Looking for bumpers

Look up vibration isolation or rubber feet on google. There are oodles of companies making bumpers that screw in using all different dimensions. There IS a more accurate name for them that will get you closer to what you want faster, but the neurons just aren't firing fast enough this morning to...

    Atlas shaft squares.

I bought ten a few years ago. They seemed alright to me. The grain was pretty straight and average growth ring density.

    Just bought a shaftmaster lathe

I know a very respected cuemaker who uses Titebond for ferrules. His work has endured. I like it too.

    African Blackwood and tone

Define 'good' as it pertains to cue tone wood and 'hit'. Pertaining to what is good, there are as many opinions as people. Can we just stick to politics and religion?

    Navigator Cue Tips

The only think that bites for a long time about this tip is the buyer's remorse when you think you coulda bought a box of Triangles instead.

    White Oak?

Here's some stuff that came out of some firewood. It has yet to dry or be stabilized, but it shows a lot of potential. It has been soaked in Pentacryl to keep it from cracking.

    White Oak?

Here's some of my curly white oak. It looks a lot better in person. The pic was over exposed. There's actually a good bit of curl from end to end.

    Just Finished Curly Maple

That looks really nice. With those bacote collars and the PH core, some pool player is going to be really confused. :)

Hey Mr Cuemaker, what hits best?

Not to be a poop head (though it comes naturally), it IS "Ask the Cuemaker".

    White Oak?

It has flecks and rays just like the curly white oak in my basement. I have a white oak Schuler and it has a very firm hit. Granted, it will feel firm at 18.2 oz, but my other Schulers are all under 19 oz. and they don't feel close to as firm as the oak cue. In comparison to many of the exotic...

    schuler cue questions

I have four original Schulers. My first Schuler, I played with for nearly 20 years before I finally bought a prettier Schuler. All of mine are straight. I've played in all humidity conditions, from Massachusetts to Chicago to Tennessee and never had a cue lock up. Predator does make a Schuler...

    ray schuler cue

They tend to hit pretty firmly, but you can always swap the tip for a softer feel. They don't come standard with LD shafts, but they perform quite well for having solid wood shafts. I've played with a Schuler of some sort since 1991 and never had an issue with the joint. Once upon a time, I was...

    ID this cue?

That's an old one. It seems to me he was tapering off of using that collar on the fancier cues in the early 90s.

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

I was thinking the same thing about joining coring dowels. I have yet to try it though. Glad I wasn't in left field, or at least by myself in left field.

    Low deflection shafts

I believe Mr. Barioni is using terminology that is accurate according to Robert Byrne, which works for me. I do have a difficult time swallowing the zero deflection (squirt) story though. I have played with a Predator shaft and that was getting CLOSE, but still not zero.

    Burl Wood

If you have your choice between a plain/bland cue and a stunning beauty, which will you choose? Through intelligent design burls can be used. If a cue maker can make a cue easier to sell by making it prettier without reducing playability, he should because pretty cues sell better.
