    Leather Rings

I was thinking the same exact thing. Has a nice look to it though. I wonder how thin a wall you can use without affecting the leather? Tom, thanks for posting those pics!

    Leather Rings

Hmmmm. What would I use the Leather Rings for? Would they be hard and stiff enough to use like regular Rings? Or would I need to impregnate them with epoxy? Might be interesting to try at the Butt Sleeve but not sure if I'd want to use them anywhere else.

Kamui tps 2.10 a piece increase??

Joe, that was a informative, well thought out writeup. I can't speak to the veracity of it all but you do make a solid argument. Unfortunately, its all moot. I doubt anyone would seriously take that on, if nothing else given the expense. Even if you just went after, say Predator, most likely...

Kamui tps 2.10 a piece increase??

I feel about the same. I don't do a lot of repairs anyway. I only do it for friends because its kind of a pain tearing down what I have setup. The tips I did do they just said the hardness they wanted and left it up to me to pick the tip. So for me its been rather easy to steer them towards tips...

Kamui tps 2.10 a piece increase??

Joe had some good points and it was interesting to read. Joey made a good argument as well. It would be nice if the MAP was to level the playing field for the dealers but that doesn't seem to be the case. I feel like you, I could care less if I ever sell a Kamui. I think $15 for a tip is too...

Kamui tps 2.10 a piece increase??

$10 each is the most I've ever paid. I just picked up 10 when I ordered some other stuff and got them for $80. I didn't really need them but as I said.... I have a hard time passing up a good deal :)

Kamui tps 2.10 a piece increase??

Screw Kamui. I have some of their tips but I have zero plans to buy any more..... although, I do have a hard time passing up a really good deal :) Are they really any better than Moori? If you haven't seen it, checkout the writeup on Kamui that Joe Barringer put on his website awhile back. And...

Cast Iron lathe bed to mount taig bed

Good idea but you'd want something longer. That bed is only about 3 foot long

Deluxe Cuesmith Lathe and Inlay Attachment

Uhoh, Tom wants it?! Cool but you gotta beat my bid now :)

Deluxe Cuesmith Lathe and Inlay Attachment

That's cool, I'd do the same. I really could use the lathe but don't really want the Inlay machine. Also, I have spent quite a bit over the last couple days on other toys. You may have done better separating the two. You see people looking for one or the other but its a little harder to find...

Deluxe Cuesmith Lathe and Inlay Attachment

There will be at least one more ;) (unless I come to my senses after just buying a Bass boat and a V3i metal detector) Oh, is this your lathe?

Deluxe Cuesmith Lathe and Inlay Attachment

Was watching 2 guys battle over it the other night. Good deal right now but it should easily top $3k. If not, it will be coming to my house :)

Insert for stripped thread in Shaft

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. I was actually glad I did it this way. The phenolic spun several times when I was trying to tap it plus stopped the chuck a few times since I ran it at such a low RPM. If I had stuck the insert in first then drilled & tapped the 3/8-10 and it spun I may have...

Insert for stripped thread in Shaft

Thanks for all the input guys, its greatly appreciated! I pretty much did it as I was planning. Trying to make a threaded insert was too much trouble since I don't have a metal lathe. I tapped the phenolic, put that on a pin and turned and faced. Put a couple glue grooves around it and about 8...

    Porper Lathe on Ebay

You know what I think happened. He got a private offer, bumped the price way up and told the guy he had to wait until after the auction ended. If it sold, bonus. Then sold it privately. Have no idea if thats true but seems reasonable and I haven't seen it relisted. Then again I may be wrong and...

Insert for stripped thread in Shaft

Thanks Joey. I think I have a 1/2-20 tap but no way to chase the threads on the insert (I have a solid 5/8 phenolic bar). I only have a HT Deluxe and don't own a chasing head. The way I was planning to make it was drill, bore, tap the 3/8-10. Use a true running pin to put that onto. Faceoff and...

Insert for stripped thread in Shaft

I have to repair a shaft with a stripped thread. 3/8-10 ID of Ringwork .625 Depth minimum 1" Questions. Do you think making the OD on a phenolic insert .425 is big enough? That leaves at least .025 per side at the major thread diameter. I really don't want to make any bigger than needed. Thanks

Coring Lathe & Combo Pack Promotional Offer

Cool, look forward to seeing the machine in action. Like I said, I don't have to have another lathe right this minute so I'll see what your machine does before pulling the trigger on something else. But don't dawdle too long, I have a couple blocks of gorgeous Camphor Burl just itching to be be...

Coring Lathe & Combo Pack Promotional Offer

Thanks, and no I don't want to taper with it. I've just always been of the mind no matter which lathe you pick sooner or later you'll wish you had bought one a little bigger :) That would actually work well. Don't have to buy a phase converter or a motor. I'd really like to make my own pins and...
