    Meucci factory seconds

Even if the only flaw is completely cosmetic? I'd have no problem with playing a cue with unsmooth inlays and think it's better for a manufacturer to not trash the wood and materials, or try to just put them on the shelves as their "quality" work and instead sell them as seconds. Now if the...

Value of developing a closed bridge...

What are people's feelings on developing a closed bridge? I had a table growing up as a kid, I never learned to use a closed bridge so I have over 20 years of playing off and on only using an open bridge. I've tried to bring the closed bridge into my game, and am impressed with the additional...

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

My break cue and her playing cue? I doubt it. I weighed them though so I'm not basing my feeling on differences in weight based on feel but on the readings of a scale.

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

This particular web page is specifically for that cue with a predator 314 shaft (as in, I didn't choose to substitute one shaft for another, but clicked the link and ad page for "Meucci demo cue with predator 314 shaft) so I would think the weights they list and send out would be accurately...

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

Wow, good find! I'm surprised I didn't notice that. It appears she wants the 20 oz anyway so we'll hopefully just get the weight bolt kit sent to us and fix it ourselves. The cue really felt like a toy. Does anyone actually like a cue so light?

    Cue Weight Tolerances...

If you order a cue that is listed as 19 oz., but when you get it, it weighs in at 18.5 oz., would you care? My girlfriend bought her first cue, I took some hits with it and felt that it seemed lighter than my 19 oz. breaking cue and she was surprised at how much different it felt than my 20 oz...

    slop frustration

Maybe I'm strange, but timing of the luck is irrelevant to me. I'm not going to feel bad about one lucky shot that happened to occur on the last shot of the match any more than I would be if it were the first shot, or a shot in the middle of the rack. I got to the hill, I did well to get...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

I've never encountered any problem at all with any situation even close to what these rules are portraying in my 30+ APA seasons. It's really a non-issue and I don't think it deserves this much attention. I'd be very curious to hear the stories of the matches that happened which caused the APA...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

Technically, there's nothing wrong with that rule, but then I could just as easily say why not just allow jumping cues? The rule you suggest basically allows a cue that could sufficiently and efficiently jump, although not quite as well as a shorter one. To decide why the APA would not go with...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

First case scenario, since it is a cue with a leather tip it is safe to say it is designed for regular play and yes, you could use it. In the second case, no, a cue with a phenolic tip is not designed for normal play, so no, you could not use it to jump.

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

Ah, I didn't notice him saying "let it go." To some hilarious degree, you two should be able (and I guess myself included) to go on forever discussing whether the English language has sufficient words to cover these scenarios or not. I personally am in the camp that I don't think so. I'll...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

And the more people nitpick, the more the rules change every year and the more confusion we create... The rules will never be perfect in any game...

A Double Hit is NOT a legal APA shot

Addressed here in section g: g. Causing movement of the cue ball, even accidentally, is a foul. I suppose the super nits here will then say that means that any time the player even plays a normal shot that it's a foul because they caused movement of the cue ball... And it will go on forever...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

I think it's valid for someone to continue on in the thread if their attitude is something along the lines of "you know what they mean by the rules, stop nit picking and play and/or coach in the spirit of the intended rules." As I expressed earlier, no set of words can adequately cover the...

A Double Hit is NOT a legal APA shot

If players can't come to a consensus on something as simple as a double hit, we're going to have some serious problems with the push shot. :) Let's nail down the double hit first and make the push shot the one of controversy. :)

    No I don't. :)

A Double Hit is NOT a legal APA shot

Double hit - The cue strikes the cue ball twice in the course of any shot or turn at the table. What else do they need to write? Does this really need to be defined? People who can't interpret this are completely illiterate.

A Double Hit is NOT a legal APA shot

I'm trying to say that both scenarios are fouls since some people seem to think the close up double hit is not an APA foul even though there isn't a single rule that distinguishes the close up double hit from one that is farther away.

    Was I Sharked?

Ah, cool. So, how is this done? I'm thinking if the opponent knows how to do this he very well may be trying to nit-pick until you give up and grant him the opportunity to rack his own...
