For me, its whatever kind has the best figure. There is a ton of birds eye and curly out there that is just average. The really primo stuff, super tight curly and birds eye with a million eyes, is not so common and what I am looking for.

There is a ton of useful info in this thread, bravo. A simple tip that has helped me make extreme cut shots on or close to the rail is to ignore the rail. Shoot it as though the rail is not there. I love these shots and all thin cuts. I think its easy for the rail to confuse the shot picture...

I could overlook the bloated ego if his cues were mentioned when talking about the best playing cues ever. I don't hear that. I don't care for an easily dulled knife, no matter how intricate the inlays. There is no denying TW's immense skill and artistic vision.

Showman also. I like traditional cues the best. I marvel at fancy CNC cues, for about ten minutes. I can look at a Showman for hours.

A titanium weight bolt would look cool heat treated, especially if polished first.
