Please help me to range these 9/10-ball handicaps

Your pals are right. Spotting balls is much tougher than spotting games, unless the games spotted are a huge number. This is why: if you are playing someone much better than you, a spotted game is not enough because you cannot get there. A spotted ball, especially 'wild' can win you a game...

Who are some of your most favorite AZ posters and why ???

There are many in the pool area of the forums. Lots of good posters offering lots of good info. In NPR thoug I will say that Chefjeff is pretty amazing. While I do not agree with everything he believes, he is consistent, smart, defends his positions well, and is not (sin of sins) a hypocrite...

    Chemically enhanced player?

The best pool playing I have ever seen involved LSD of all things. The two guys were mediocre bangers, but at that time if someone made a ball on the break they ran out, if they didn't the other guy ran out. Was pretty amazing. And again, these were not run out players by any stretch. They both...

'No Time For Negative' from the chair

Good stuff Jimmy, looking forward to reading more. :) I think positive thinking is key to not just pool, but MOST things in life. Many people see karma in daily life, but I think a lot of that is just that when you have the right mental attitude things tend to turn out well for you. Dale...

    bar rescue

I've not seen the pool hall episode but the one episode I watched was about redoing a dive bar. It was a joke, the consultant seems to have no clue about what makes a dive bar successful. The owner was a creep, but bringing in a "corporate bar consultant" (read: Applebee's , not a real bar)...

    Old Man Cheated

Thats complete horse sh1t. Not surprised though. People do all sorts of shady stuff. Count your blessings that you are now aware the TD is a piece of crap and you can avoid dealing with her/them in the future.

Does anyone know how long VHS tapes last?

I have some super old nba and pro wrestling (dusty Rhodes!) VHS tapes from 83 or so that still worked when I popped them in an old VCR a year ago. These were cheapo tapes too, and recorded on slp (? It's been forever, not sure of right term, the slow record version that allowed a 60m tape to...

The APA 9 ball team CHAMPIONS disqualified

What league is that? I've never, ever, in almost 20 years of playing the big 3 leagues and having been at nationals ever seen a league without sandbagging. Local? Yes. Regional/national? Hell no. They all have sandbagging and ratings shenanigans going on.

The APA 9 ball team CHAMPIONS disqualified

Absolutely spot on! If anyone thinks widespread cheating and sandbagging does not happen in every league they are hopelessly naive. It's all down to how the local LO runs his league. Some are great, some don't give a flying F what goes on as long as they get their money. So it's a coin toss...

If G. Balabushka were making cues today.

How many people dismissing balabushkas have actually shot with one? I ask because I had kind of dismissed them as an antique car: cool looking, with personality, but not comparable to modern vehicles. Boy, was I wrong. I had a chance to shoot with one once. Really shoot, not just poke...

When an employee 'hooks you up' on table time, do you tip them extra?

Best posts in the thread. And I worked in bars for 16 years, 3 of them at a pool hall. Reward regulars who spend money. Charge leeches and deadbeats for everything. This is how the bar business works. You reward good customers and generate goodwill. This is how you get regulars. If you...

Steve Mizerak vs CJ Wiley 9-ball Reno

Hmmm....odd you jumped right to inferring my previous post referred to you. Wonder why that is? Stalkers tend to be paranoid themselves, so...

Steve Mizerak vs CJ Wiley 9-ball Reno

I wonder how long it takes for anyone, anywhere on AZB to post the name "CJ Wiley" before his stalkers show up crying and fussing with their panties in a bunch.

How do you feel about the bathroom break?

eh who cares? Bathroom break is no problem. Gives me a chance to go for a smoke or get a beer or something. If that's sharking then good god is there much much much worse out there.

Jimmy Reid aka "Diamond Jim" and "Hippie Jimmy"

I posted here about this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=4019415&posted=1#post4019415 I have no problem posting 'hearsay' because Jimmy asked me to post and warn people, and since his computer is all messed up with trojans installed by someone and he cannot post for...

    Zero x system

I just spent 45 minutes talking with Jimmy on the phone. What an enjoyable person he is! Halfway through our conversation I asked him about Tacoma Whitey and he went on to tell some great stories about him, his wacky stroke, and how good he was. Priceless stuff! :) The first half of our...

    Weird house rules?

I used to play out of a bar that had an awesome house rule: Every time a ball left a table and hit the floor, and every time a house cue was dropped on the ground, everyone would yell out "QUARTER!" and the offender had to put a quarter in a huge can. If someone got an 8 on the break in a...

    Tony Drago goes crazy

"honorable thing". With Drago? Please. I'd have accepted the win and would have had a hard time not laughing at him. His behavior at the mosconi cup a few years back was the trashiest, scummiest behavior I've ever seen from a spectator...much less from a pro. No way does he deserve sympathy...

    Cue to chin

I can tell I am in stroke when my chin just naturally gets on the cue. If I have to concentrate/think about it I know I am off. I used to have a large goatee that I had forked into two tails, split right at the chin. Back then I could 'dust' the cue when I was on and strokin good. :)
