Simple question for you experts on 14.1

Note too that not every foul on the opening break loses two points.

    Retractable Bridge: Useful or Gimmick?

Plastic is good. Plastic interlocking is better. Clear plastic interlocking would be even better. When you have a high bridge, it's hard to see the CB.

Novel use of bridge or rules violation?

Hmmm, I haven't been able to find anything like that in the WPA/BCA rules.

Rule question: Using only my shaft

Nope 17. CUE STICKS Cue Sticks used at WPA competitions should comply with the following during play at table: Length of Cue: 40 inches [1.016 m] minimum / No Maximum Weight of Cue: No minimum / 25 oz. [708.75 gm] maximum Width of Tip: No minimum / 14mm maximum The cue tip may not be of a...

Novel use of bridge or rules violation?

I think it is apparent from Oscar's picture that it is more effective than stacking bridges.

Novel use of bridge or rules violation?

The game is 14.1 - not that the game matters. The CB is very close to the stack of balls and the shooter has to reach over them to shoot. This makes bridging quite difficult. The shooter places a standard bridge across the table, one end resting on top of a long rail and the other end resting on...

    big foot challenge at dcc

Interesting. What's number one? Maybe the banks ring game?

Sad: Univ of Michigan Pool Hall in the Union Will be No More.

I played there at UofM a few times and enjoyed the place, but I can't say I'm surprised that it is being closed. Any time I went there it was pretty much empty. I was there in the summer once and the place had no air conditioning. It was a long way from being a great place to play. With the...

15 Ball Rotation vs 14.1 as a educational tool

Having a hard time understanding how this could work. Doesn't it mean that the break ball has to be the highest numbered ball left on the table when you get down to just five balls? No matter where it lies? And a similar problem with the key ball?

Best way to train for accuracy

I prefer Dr. Dave's "Vision Center" exercise: http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/eyes.html#vision_center Making the ball is, of course, important, but it's just as important to see that on a straight in the cue ball doesn't drift left or right after object ball contact and that it has no...

15 Ball Rotation vs 14.1 as a educational tool

Mr. 400 would be a good one to ask He often (maybe always) starts his 14.1 practice sessions by practicing rotation. He told me that it lets his stroke out quickly.

Who is currently the best "pool" player in the world right now

That wasn't the question The question was "Who is currently the best "pool" player in the world right now?".

    What's the Plan? 1

Looks to me like the 1 is keeping me from getting to the 8. If that's true, I would make the stripe near the corner and go 2 rails to about the second diamond on the right long rail. From there, I would make the 2 in the side and stop or backup slightly for the 13 in the corner. If I miss shape...

    Shaft aiming

Clearly, this method does not depend on being able to visualize the two balls colliding. I depends on being able to visualize the OB's contact point and the side of the shaft that is inside the angle.

    Shaft aiming

I imagine it must start to fail when the CB is very close to the OB and/or when the cut is very thin. True?

    14.1 scoring systems

Kinda funny I'm old enough to have learned to score with beads - because that's all there was. As an adult, there are few places with beads and a lot of tables with numeric counters. So when my kids learned to play 14.1, they learned with counters. As a result, they can't quite figure out how...

    Shaft aiming

Really pretty straightforward. Here's a link that includes this technique. I haven't seen where anyone discusses its limitations. https://www.pooldawg.com/article/pooldawg-library/what-the-fck-are-you-looking-at-a-guide-to-aim

    1P rules question

Never saw this before today... Players are down to the last ball. Player intentionally double hits the cue ball, makes the hanger in his opponent's pocket and re-spots it with one of his own. Play continues with cue ball in place. Could this play be unsportsmanlike conduct resulting in loss...

    Predator or Molinari CUES?

I asked this recently, but didn't specify cues. The replies had to do with gloves. Trying again. What are the differences between the two lines? Why would you choose one over the other?
