    Extension

If it's the bumper that won't fit your cue, your local cue mechanic can probably do that for you with no trouble. That's all it took with my McDermott cue. The extra charge was very little.
  2. Saturated Fats

    Extension

I use a Predator extension full time and I removed the cue's weight bolt to compensate for the (almost negligible) added weight.

    Chip Tournament

I haven't tried this approach, but it seems like we'd be back to everyone waiting for the slower player(s). Similar to an elimination tournament.

    29.1 Anyone?

Sticking to the 14.1 rules as much as possible, the 14 balls are racked at the foot spot.

    Playing by official rules.....

I attribute most "local" rules to ignorance. Seems that there are damn few people that have read the rules even once.

    Chip Tournament

Not that I'm aware of. Chip tournaments are good for friendly, informal tournaments. The strong points are that the awful waits that often happen in double elimination tournaments are eliminated and there are no "two & outs".

    29.1 Anyone?

Once in a while my friends and I play with two sets of balls just for the hell of it. One racked at each end. The game goes faster because of more shot opportunities. We stick to normal rules as much as possible.

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

I agree that it's not so much the rules as it is the attitude with which they are presented. That GTFO on the bottom is terrible customer relations. It's 100% attitude. I don't disagree with any one rule specifically, but I sure wouldn't want this sign posted on my home pool room wall either.

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

These are actual posted rules on a wall of a pool room in my area. Has anyone ever seen a more hostile attitude?

    Elimin-8-ball

Any things you liked and disliked? Had trouble remembering all the possible restrictions before each turn: eliminated pocket(s), restricted rails. Had to consciously go through the restrictions before taking the next shot in order to shoot a productive shot and play shape in a way that also...

    Elimin-8-ball

How is the following handled? It came up in our first game. I eliminated a corner pocket by potting the 8 ball to finish rack 3. In rack 4, I banked the 8 ball into that eliminated pocket to win rack 4. I can take one of my balls away for rack 5, but I can't eliminate that pocket again.

I hope he's not thinking that that's a good thing.

14.1 Scorer app - new versions

I've used the app a number of times in the last few years and the only difficulty I've had with it is that unlike other forms of 14.1 scoring, you must remember to record every finished turn even when the score doesn't change. I imagine you'd be sacrificing some of the stats if you only recorded...

    Elimin-8-ball

It seems illogical that the (first) two blue markers on the pockets mean that those pockets are eliminated for the blue player, but the blue marker between them means that the red player may not use that rail (with the cue ball). Wouldn't a red marker make more sense for the rail?

    Elimin-8-ball

Are the following two (red) statements in conflict? Game 1: a regular game of 8-ball Rack 13 balls: 6 solids, 6 stripes + the 8-ball. Lag for the break and break. The group (solids or stripes) you get in game 1 is the group you will be for all following games. When a player pots the 8-ball to...

    Which Aramith Liquid?

I just put an old, relatively cheap and dirty set of balls through about 10 minutes in the Diamond ball cleaning machine. I used Aramith liquid cleaner because that's what I had. I'd say the results are good. They're now shiny and the colors are improved. Any scratches are still there. What...

    BCA Rules Question

Doing a push shot has nothing to do with the location of an object ball. A double hit, yes. A push shot, no. Apparently many don't understand the difference.
