Looking for a cue maker that will make a plain jane or merry widow cue for 300$

you are obviously just a instigator using a bland handle name. I doubt that you even want a cue either to buy or to be built.....probably don't even play pool....just someone that got lonely and decided to get your rocks off getting everyone heated......good job on that!. Your not the first guy...

Looking for a cue maker that will make a plain jane or merry widow cue for 300$

you would do better to buy a production cue, cheaper and fits your requirements. My base price for a basic cue with pretty good choices of woods and 1 shaft are at the starting point of $600.....as you are not just paying for the materials and time, BUT the expertise in putting it all together...

breaking with a Juma jointed cue

If it is a juma joint on both the butt and shaft, depending on the joint pin and they are just collars....My experience has shown that they will eventually deform.....especially if the person is a hard breaker. Haven't had them break/crack but have had them deform.

    Tight United Joint

First, there probably is crap built up in the insert.....adding lube/soap/etc will not remove that crap, it will only end up adding more to the pile. First step is to use Q-tips soaked in alcohol and put 2 of them together and 'screw' them into the insert.....keep doing it with new ones until...

    Thread size?

first, that's NOT an authentic uni-loc joint pin. It is a knockoff. Secondly, you should put a ruler next to threads and maybe we can tell the TPI by the picture.

A very sad Farewell to Tom Hay

It has finally been confirmed that Tom Hay from Ultraskins has passed away. My Condolences to the family and friends that he left behind. He and I didn't start off good at the beginning, I asked questions and we butted heads. We finally got on the same page and he was a standup guy thru it all...

    Adam weight bolt removal

Adams if I recall correctly, never glued their weight bolts, it is probably rust buildup as I mentioned before. One thing to try is to put it in a refrigerator for 10 or so hours and try the wrench in a vice method I mentioned before and see if that works. At 40ish degrees, no damage to the cue...

    Adam weight bolt removal

What I have found is that the bolts can rust a little over time, and and act like loctite threadlock. Heat works (as mentioned, an induction heater is the TOOL) and an sturdy allen wrench held in a vice, make sure the bottom of the 'L' is in the vice so it cannot turn. Then wrap a rubber...

Building up the wrap groove with veneer

I HIGHLY recommend using Veneer Tamer instead of water.....water will cause it to swell, then shrink, have had no swelling/shrinkage with veneer tamer. https://www.vacupress.com/product/veneer-tamer/...

Building up the wrap groove with veneer

Thanks Mike for the kind words, I have done other build-ups since using the method I used on the above mentioned post using veneers and then after sanding, covered it with either linen or leather. The REAL game changer is a product called veneer tamer(woodcraft). Once the veneer is soaked...
