Things to consider for those forum members buying their first pool cue

What is your (and Manwon's) opinion of McDermott's weight system that allows weights to be placed ANYWHERE along the length of the butt in its H-Series cues? Second photo is the weight system being inserted in the butt with all the shiny weights that would end up nearer the butt end. They...

    Show me your wrapless cues

Character cues have nice and weird butts: The cues are named. Starting at the left, they are "Ambitiously Stoned", Team Colors, Blessed are the Sorrowful, and Cool School. _____ https://charactercues.com/sold/

    Decal cues are the best

I couldn't find on their webpage the cue they worked on in the video: There are cheaper ones than their Poseidon I posted above. Their model Bocote, for example, is 460 Euros. ____ Their three-year-old YouTube video on cuemaking at their shopt is at

    Decal cues are the best

Longoni's carom cues are more attractive than their pool cues. Here are sophisticated, well sort-of no-skull sophisticated, discontinued decal cues:

Longoni's many wrapless carom-cue designs are much better than their pool-cue designs:

Shaft to Butt Joint Adapters - Thread Converters

I bought the adapter that the Grand Wazoo mentioned. That is from eBay seller, Cue Extensions Plus. It fit fine my Lucasi hybrid uniloc shaft. The shaft now fits fine in my 5/16x18 Players and Viper butts. The adapter weighs 1.3 ounces and is 1-7/8 inch long. Regarding Whyte shafts, I...

    Wood over CF shaft options

See more about Bob's opinion in May 2025 on the Defy shaft at AZ link below. I have taken snippets from the post below. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/non-low-deflection-carbon-shaft-maker.576226/

    Wood over CF shaft options

What do I know? Its odd that other companies lower shaft end mass by making the shaft behind the ferrule for a couple inches hollow except for foam versus McDermott plugs the shaft with wood and carbon fiber to boot. _

    Wood over CF shaft options

McDermott's goal is not to make a magical zero deflection shaft. It is concentrating more on hit and sound. They use marketing gurus who tell McDermott that hit and sound are very important even if the design increases deflection more than others. Their advertising may, however, be less than...

    Wood over CF shaft options

In any event, it is not the way to reduce deflection. McDermott's Defy carbon-fiber-only shaft also mimics McDermott's effort to make their i-series and G-core shafts non-Revo like. Defy's carbon fiber is different from other companies's CF. As McDermott states on its website about a...

    Wood over CF shaft options

My guesses are that it makes for more uniformity in shafts produced, makes shafts more durable, it allows lower quality wood to be used, it produces a non-Revo sound, it makes for a non-Revo hit.

    Wood over CF shaft options

McDermott's wood shaft has no hollow space behind ferrule. It instead fills it with not just carbon fiber but also wood. If you wish to lighten shaft near ferrule omit the wooden dowel or the carbon fiber rod. Edit---behind ferrule isn't hollow, it has three layers: wood shaft, CF inside, and...

    Wood over CF shaft options

McDermott's G-core, i-Series shafts have inside the ferrule a carbon-fiber rod and inside that a, probably light, wood dowel. That is a recipe for strength but not for low deflection.

    KielWood Shaft

So, an inFUZED Kielwood shaft weighs 3.5 ounces while another one is 4.3 ounces (Bavafongoul wants a kielwood 4-ounce shaft). The InFUZED website claims its shafts are 0.12 pounds or 1.9 ounces. That must be a shaft without joint?

    Pool Inventions of the Future

I like this especially since now there is little but do-it-yourself testing. There would be detractors, of course. See https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/deflection-question-explain-how-a-stiffer-cf-shaft-has-less-deflection.578531/

❗Installing weird yellow square tips on cue shaft ❗

An amateur's insurance policy against damage _ That is possible. I cleaned the ferrule with alcohol and magic eraser but there were blue streaks still there. I experimented on whether the blue marks could be removed with sanding. I removed them and a couple scratches remained. It seems alright.

    Pool Inventions of the Future

Whoa! I think its money that's preventing this from happening. I don't think APA would be interested. I think the person who headed the company would have to have a plan to get money. The plan is the stumbling block.
