Mosconi Cup, Team USA, the real problem still exists.

It is what it is, the short races make this event a coin flip. It's entertainment.

Who knows the story of Efren surfacing in America?

Yeah, I agree. Freddy the Beard (Get Well Freddy!!) was there and was in with Keith when Efren played him. Freddy said "Buddy was getting over a drunk and Efren hadn't slept in over a day. However, as good as he was playing, his loss to Buddy never made sense to me. Efren offered everybody...

Who knows the story of Efren surfacing in America?

I recently read John Grissam's book, Billiards. He went to the Phillipines in the 70's and met Reyes then. He said he played him and it was before he came to the U.S. Here is a link that talks about this subject: http://untoldstoriesbilliardshistory.blogspot.com/2009/07/very-early-efren-reyes.html

    A Letter from Mike Dechaine

Good post Mike, it sounds like you have decided to work on the things that you can control and not worried about those things you can't. Everyone has bumps in the road. If you can see them for what they are, learn from them, and move on, then your chances for success will be maximized, IMHO. BTW...

    Mike Segal's commentating kind of....

Yes, to me too, and you would think someone has mentioned it to him. But I don't think he means anything by it, just kind of careless.

I like Mike's commentating, but wish he would say Efren's name correctly.

    Challenge of Champions dump

Jay's religious reference will probably add another 100 pages. I would like to hear Earthquake's opinion on this. He is pretty familiar with Buddy's game I think, if he watched the last two games, I wonder what his take would be. As most know, Buddy was known for his excellent cueball control...

    Challenge of Champions dump

I appreciate CJ's posts and forum participation, he brings a lot of knowledge and experience. But that doesn't mean I will always agree with every point of view he expresses. I'm pretty sure he is OK with people disagreeing with him at times...I mean he certainly keeps on posting as if none of...

I think there was an unknown shooter at the grassy knoll that caused Buddy to miss that combination.

    Challenge of Champions dump

    1. What are the chances that the guy that the book assigned the longest odds, actually wins, while at the same time every player in the event has the maximum they can bet, $200, bet on Lebron to win. 2. Also, why would two well respected pool guys who have a strong love for the game, one of...

Oh no you didn't just throw Ronnie Allen under the bus. Do you have any real evidence that Ronnie Allen dumped?:eek:

So is there footage of the famous 1990's Challenge of Champions dumping scandal?

OK, CJ, good enough, agree to disagree. It's not important enough to keep rehashing. Everyone can make up his or her minds.

So is there footage of the famous 1990's Challenge of Champions dumping scandal?

It takes someone with a huge ego, and probably some agenda to absolutely ignore, and in fact deny, what Jay Helfert has told you. The first rule about getting yourself out of a hole is to stop digging. Buddy's career has a lot of great accomplishments, and it also includes the Challenge of...

    Challenge of Champions dump

Jay Helfert, who was at the tournament (TD I believe) says the dump is a FACT. Jay is a guy that loves and supports the game of pool. Just what would be Jay's motive for making up a negative thing about the game? Here's what jay said earlier today: "CJ, this was a long time ago in another...

    Challenge of Champions dump

I agree. I was at a horserace years ago at Delta Downs, it was a race where they come out of a straightaway onto the main track, then go all the way around the track and to the finish line. There was a very thick fog that night, and one jockey decided to pull a fast one. Instead of going around...

    Challenge of Champions dump

All I can judge by is watching the match, and at least one post on here where Jay Helfert, who worked the tournament, says it was a dump. So whatever. It wasn't pretty anyway you slice it. Here's what Jay said in another thread: "Allen knew about it and would not participate, out of his...
