i lightened up on my stroke by 30%, and im playing better

You will improve much more by holding the cue lighter also. Focus on a straight-slow backswing and a straight accelerating foreswing. Not zero to 60 but zero to 30 to 60.

Is breathing a specific way important or overkill?

Here is the way that works for me. I usually take two warmup strokes. Inhale on the fore stroke, exhale on the backstroke, inhale on the fore stroke, exhale on the final backstroke. When the air is out of your lungs there is a short pause before the next inhale. During that pause is also my...

    Played some pool last night

Sorry bankrupt California. The overspenders can not control their budget and then want the other states to bail them out using tax money paid in by Texas and other states. What a pathetic lot. Go bankrupt!!

    LED lights...... check this out!

I have a table light that accepts 3 bulbs. I took out the incandescent bulbs and put in 3, 60 watt LED's. Perfect lighting and low energy usage. Not much heat generated either.

Hustling, Gambling, and Adventures on the Road in Atlanta Georgia

C.J. I think pool halls and leagues will come back but not so well this year. Everybody is hurting and with some dark numbers coming from employment and manufacturing and retail, who knows what the future brings? I think pool will fare a lot better than close fan contact in a football arena.

    Pressed triangle tips

I thought triangle tips were "hard". Why would you want them pressed?

Stroke improvement question for instructors and non instructors

I think that is true. After 40 years of playing the wrong way and forming a lot of bad habits, I am progressing into an orthodox stroke routine but it is a challenge. I am getting there. I think by the end of the year i will be near where I want to be. Now I have these forums, U-Tube videos...

Stroke improvement question for instructors and non instructors

For me, pausing a full second on the backswing helps me make more balls.

Stroke improvement question for instructors and non instructors

The pause is so very important. It prevents a "shuddering" effect between the triceps and biceps. This shudder will cause cue tip to be off.

Has your local pool hall (here in the US) opened back up yet?

Spraying won't matter. Most pool halls have old moldy carpet that never gets cleaned. It is full of critters and mites and stale beer and coke.

Stroke improvement question for instructors and non instructors

Randy, would you say that timing is the same as rythm? If not, how is one different from the other? IN my mind "smooth transition" is a combination or a blend of timing and rythm. Am I right or wrong?

Stroke improvement question for instructors and non instructors

What are the two main things most have to work on to improve their stroke? Then, what is the right routine to work on these two stroke issues to improve. If you would like to mention more than two, have at it. Thank you in advance for your input.

Advice on a Cuetec Cynergy 15k

If you already have a butt, then I would order the shaft only with the correct pin size fitting your current existing butt and go with that. You do not need a Cuetec butt. That's what I did.

dont seem to get enought speed on my three rail shots

I was not having enough follow through on my digicue blue. So I went to an exaggerated follow through. Many repetitions concentrating on smooth transition with exaggerated follow through. Finally I managed to stay in the high green (good) area of the "follow through" section of the digicue...

dont seem to get enought speed on my three rail shots

When sighting down the cue ball, look at the left edge of your tip. Is it hitting the right side of the cue ball therefore putting running english on the cue ball? This spin will give the cueball tremendous acceleration. In this case center right should get you there. A smooth transition...
