I think Tommy Kennedy and even Reed Pierce would qualify as Cinderella winners. I remember that Gabe had been on a tear heading into the Open, so I wasn’t surprised he was there in the end his year.

    What would You do?

A new league player on the other team decades ago asked if she could hit a 2-9 combination, and we said she could. So, she hit the 2-ball into the 9-ball. The cueball was never part of the shot. She missed, so no harm, but she gave us ball in hand without trying to cover up, embarrassed as...

Deflection question, explain how a stiffer CF shaft has less deflection.

I call this “Effective Squirt,” a term I started using 30+ years ago where squirt dominated the spin compensation. So squirt is squirt, and effective squirt is the result of all spin effects I add up squirt effect, swerve effect, and throw effects to determine my compensation.

Who built Schuler cues after Ray Schuler passed away, and were they good quality cues?

I don’t know many if any that didn’t feel the same way with Schuler. Everyone should go out a try to get one.

Who built Schuler cues after Ray Schuler passed away, and were they good quality cues?

Yes, you can put a Schuler carom shaft on without missing a beat. Every Schuler shaft is supposed to fit every Schuler ever made. Did you post a photo? I’ll scroll.

Who built Schuler cues after Ray Schuler passed away, and were they good quality cues?

Joint is 22mm ( Joint is 22mm diameter (~ .865) so aftermarket shafts become a challenge. I’ve had to turn down a couple of pilots from cuemakers who built an aftermarket shafts for my Schuler. Schuler Cues have many standard tapers. They marked them on the joint with letters like PP, SQ...

Does this mean I can no longer use my Aramith ball cleaning liquid? Pretty sure it has some wax in it.

    Toasty to become citizen

Just an interesting add… my grandparents were naturalized citizens. The irony is that they became citizens decades after my parents (and we three siblings) did. My maternal grandparents joined us in the US when they were already senior citizens in the 1980’s.

World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

Oh for sure. But I think anyone who watched would agree that Fedor for all his greatest got a disproportionate amount of rolls. I just hope that keeps up in the Mosconi cup.

Ummm. Gross and go have the same long ‘o’ I don’t know a common English word ‘gorse’ I mean, it exists, but maybe use another word for an example and comparison. ‘Hot’ has a short ‘o’ … are you saying it’s that pronunciation?

He had a boatload of luck on his side today including the finals. It’s what kept this match closer than it could have been, given how both were running out.

St. Louis Louie vs. Archer 1990

Loved watching Louie. He got away with two fouls. He let go of his cue to aim the path (who calls that foul anyway? And Cardone was absolutely correct on this uncalled foul:

    RIP Joe Salazar

Great guy. I steered a couple players his way for their respective first big cue. Without any encouragements or hints from me, Joe jellied me one year. I was surprised to say the least.

    Fargo on Bar boxes

I suppose if you lose some more to the lesser player, and win more to better player, your Fargo will be about the same. But, I hear what you’re saying.

Congratulations to Nick Schulman! 2025 Electee into the Poker Hall of Fame. Just amazing. Steve Lipsky did a great post on his protogé’s career starting in pool, getting into back room poker games, and Nick’s rise at poker, leaving potential dreams of professional pool behind.
