    Master Teams

I think that in many cases the higher level masters players do not play in leagues anymore. There are many reasons for this and most have already been stated. It would be interesting to see if you simply opened it up to anyone who was willing to pay a membership whether you would increse the...

    APA Profit

Roadking, if you use the info Tim suggested then the L.O. would give up approx $14,000 to the APA and you can assume operating expenses can be approx 25% of gross revenue or another $17,000 or so (just a guess based on my business background) Using those numbers then you have...

    Apa/Cpa bashing

I agree with you 100 %. The problem now is, that by starting this thread, you have just opened up another opportunity for the APA/CPA haters to jump right in. I will sit back and wait for the deluge of neagive comments. Here's hoping I am wrong. Leagueguy

    APA Profit

And then some goes into his gas tank, and into supplies for his business, and into any business licences that he needs, and business insurance that he has to pay, and the computer that he needs to use, and 100 other things that you might not think about. Bottom line is if he is grossing only...

Can APA hold me accountable for past due fees of other players?

Just to clarify, I am not a L.O. Just a long time player who defends the APA when needed. I have corresponded with S.B.G and gave him the suggestion of corresponding with his L.O. in writing and then if necessary forwarding that info on the the APA office. That way he has proof that the L.O...

APA Nationals...like playing at your local tavern

Cookie man, I agree with 100% on some things that you say. Yes the small tournament room when the run the mini tournaments and other events could be run better (although with the number of teams and matches they have, I think they do a great job). I also don't like the sudden death format that...

APA Nationals...like playing at your local tavern

Justadub, I was not there this year so I really can't say anything about the comments on here. I have been to Vegas a few times for team events and Masters and I didn't have any problem. The equipment has been fine the times I have played there including last August. In my own opinion, I wish...

APA Nationals...like playing at your local tavern

All 5 players that went from my area had free paid for by our L.O. That includes flights, rooms, transportation to and from the airport and baggage fees covered. Maybe players in your area didn't get that. You should talk to your L.O. then. Leagueguy

if the APA handicap system really works

Thats a point of view I have never heard before and never considered. In all my years of playing league (17 +) I have always played mostly on 9-foot tables in a pool room. The only rooms I have ever seen run into trouble were the ones that did not have league teams and that was usually because...

if the APA handicap system really works

"I couldnt agree more!!! What a great post!!! You are right!! If everybody is an ESTABLISHED member who cares if you have a team of 4 SL7's and 3 SL9's??? What should it matter if you stack a team to crush the crap out of the other little man squads??" If you have a team that constantly crushes...

if the APA handicap system really works

Sherm, I can understand your argument that the APA 23 rule does offer an opportunity for recreational or low level players to compete without any interest in getting better. I don't agree with the fact that the 23 rule is responsible for the reason why pro pool is the way it is although I can...

if the APA handicap system really works

The APA division I play in has 14 teams. With 4 weeks to go 1st through 10th are separated by 2 points and last is only 7 points out. How much more competitive do you need. This is true of most of the divisions in my L.O.'s area. Seems the team equalizer works pretty good around here. Leagueguy

if the APA handicap system really works

There is no handicap system out there that will allow a 2 or a 3 to compete even with a 6 or a 7 and still get the matches played in a couple of hours. The reason for the 23 rule, in my opinion, is to ensure that each team need a few newer/less skilled players. That is what keeps the matches...
