    League - Good Sportsmanship

I have done that many times myself in league, tournamments or even when playing for small sets (I don't play big sets). I would rather lose then have someone think that I loose racked them to gain an edge. Leagueguy.

    Md team apa payouts

That is the bottom line right there. Pool leagues are no different than any other entertainment product or service that you buy. If you don't like the product then don't buy it. Why is pool different than other products out there. How many of us worry about how much the president or local...

    9 ball rule question

This is the actual rules that TAP 9-ball has. The 9-ball is spotted and it is your opponents shot. It gets scored as a miss and is not a ball in hand. Now if you would have made the 2-ball, then the 9-ball gets spotted and you shoot again. League guy

    I'm 12 posts away from 10,000 posts

Eric, The day I joined AZ, you sent me a message welcoming me and told me to look you up if I needed anything. That right there told me that you really believe in helping people (anyone) involved in this sport (yes it is a sport), It is for that reason you need to stay to continue to offer...

What are the Best Pool Tournaments in Vegas to Play in and Watch ?

Lyn, are you playing in the singles regional events in March. Just curious if you play in the singles in the APA as well as the teams. Leagueguy

5 Tables for a Big Tourney?

If you can take the time off, why not go. It is a chance to earn a WPBA tour card. Those chances don't come around every day. Take a shot at it. Just bring lots of down time materials so that you do not become pre-occupied with the waiting. The waiting is going to bother a large number of the...

BCA ruling or perhaps just common sense?

Tell player A it his his shot as he looked like he was playing that shot and did not call a safety. Otherwise you open yourself up to the guy who takes a straight on shot and then does the same thing after seeing that he hooks himself. He should also be reprimanded by you, the league operator...

    MAYBE...The Perfect Pool Tournament with a “A”, “B”, and “C” Handicapped Format

We had something similar within driing distance a number of years ago. It was run every other month. It used an ABCD format with D paying 30 entry, C 50, B 70 and A 100. $5 of the C and D entry went to the A and there was a small bit of location money added to the A as well. Basically it was...

The terrible choice of whether to play league or not, must decide by next week

That money goes to the indiviual L.O. not the APA. It is impossible to know how every L.O. spends that money. I can tell you what i know about my area. We have about 70 teams this session (about 55 the last 2 sessions) Based on math, that equals approximately 2700 paid team weeks per year...

The terrible choice of whether to play league or not, must decide by next week

The math is quite simple. They have approx 250,000 members. Memberships are $25. That is 6.25 million. I am guessing they have about 30 or so staff (maybe more - I am basing this on previous conversations with my L.O). At an average salary of $50,000 (which would include both executives and...

The terrible choice of whether to play league or not, must decide by next week

If you don't think that you could learn something in twenty weeks in league play then you obviously aren't planning on paying attention to anything or anyone else. I attempt to learn something every time I am out playing. It may not be much, but I look to improve constantly. It may simply be a...

The terrible choice of whether to play league or not, must decide by next week

If you really had to think about whether you wanted to play in a league, then you probably did not. You should probably find a way out of it before you make your life (and even possibly other peoples lives) miserable. You should only be playing league for social fun and competition. Just my...

    Dcc 2012

Here I am reading all about the DCC. Having never been to an SBE or US Open, my thoughts are now that I really want to do next years DCC. First, some info about me. I am a APA 7 in 8-ball and an 8 in 9-ball. I would consider myself a B to B+ player but probably not an A by most standards. Can...

Changing the Rules During the Season...

Lyn, Thanks for the reply. My post was not directed at the Rochester area alone. It was more a statement about leagues in general. The fact that you have 4 or more leagues to choose from is a great thing, as long as the player base is their to support them. My area has always been thought to...

Changing the Rules During the Season...

This is what bugs me about League Operators in general. Your league had to change your rules to get "other leagues players to come over". Why is your L.O. trying to steal other leagues players and not trying to recruit new players in. I don't care what league it is (I personally play APA but...

Changing the Rules During the Season...

I do not believe rules should be changed in the middle of a session UNLESS they are communicated in a meeting where players have the ability to ask questions and have them answered. In order to implement any kind of rule change (let alone mid session) you need to get the players on side.

    Shy but wants to play

I would talk to your captain and tell them that you have absolutley no intention of sandbaggin. They may surprise you and tell you that you misunderstood and that they don't want you sandbagging, that they just hope that you would stay a 3. If he tells you that you should find another team...

My win at challenge of champions

Well done. As long as your team is having fun, the winning will keep coming. I have always siad that when it comes to the playoffs, and state championships, 6's and 7's cancel each other out. It is the 2's 3's and 4's that will carry the team. Good Luck in the cities. Hope you make it all the...

    What if we win ???

If you guys are friends away from the table as well, then I would just leave it alone. If you are friends, then I am sure he would be trying to pull his weight and would probably be really offended at being sat out. If he is low ball after 2 riunds, then he gets replaced anyway. The other thing...
