Looking for a cue for my girlfriend, a small 5'4". Athena cues are in the $100 range, anyone have any experience with them? They're specifically made for women, or so I've read. While I immediately think it's a gimmick, I'd rather ask for opinions.

I've only ever broke with my playing cue, and I feel like I'm struggling against myself to make a cue of that weight move strongly enough to break the balls. This is also doubtless due to bad form, but I feel like I might be more comfortable with a heavier break cue.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. When I refer to "cheaping out on a cue" I'm basically talking about anything in the $30-$50 range. I'd never consider an $80 cue a "cheap cue." I clearly have some decision to make about where I go from here. Thanks, guys!

I'd rather not cheap out on a cue, and if I avoided buying an entirely new one I could at least have the money to buy a nice shaft. Besides, I have two playing cues (and haven't decided which one I like better yet) so I could just show up with both, the break shaft on one. I appreciate the input.

Thanks! I couldn't think of why there'd be any difference between the butts of a playing/breaking cue. It's the Schmelke brass insert, so it's a small but sturdy joint, not too terrible for speed.
