Derby in the Time of Covid

Lou, two weeks ago my wife contacted covid. Now I'm not a doctor, just a old married man. But I know when my wife gets a cold or the flu, this hit much harder. So when the test came back positive I was not surprised. We both had all three shots, I seem to be OK. You just never know. Please be...

Best of the Best Cue Makers

Ask around. There are only a limited number of Jackpot cues ever made. Some may be available at a buyers incentive price.

    Ivory spelling?

Quesports may or may not wear a tin foil hat. But when Gibson guitar was raided and had provable legal wood confiscated, he may just have a valid point.

How to buy a custom cue

Go to SBE or similar event and test drive a few hundred. Many you pick up and, no. So it's not so hard. Unfortunately SBE has been canceled for two years now. Maybe this spring, I hope.

Predator sneaky Pete’s ain’t no sneaky pete

Mr piper, is it the Mcdermott M 11B? They even have a fat butt, very sneaky. I have one of those, it's very nice.

Predator sneaky Pete’s ain’t no sneaky pete

Ten years ago I bought a Predator "sneaky" the SP4RW. It's semi sneaky with a wood to wood joint and 4 point wrapless. The semi part is a white Hoppe ring and fairly low key red/black veneers. Overall pretty dull. It's my most used cue, which kind of pisses me off. Most of my other cues cost a...

    Just curious?

I have a GC4 about 15 feet from me right now. I just stopped practicing for the night. It's pretty damn nice having a table in the man cave. There are also three poolhalls within ten miles that I don't play in. Strangely enough I play in a bar about 30 miles away with the same guys that also...

Predator sneaky Pete’s ain’t no sneaky pete

I have 9 cues that are called "sneaky", I like the wrapless four point style. But in reality the sneaky that I carry is a Mcdermott Harley Davidson cue. Rather brash, like a Budweiser. They make a Jack Daniel's model too. That should work.

What Kind of Chalk Does Jayson Shaw Use?

From what I've seen it's 7 to 8 dollars cheaper than Kamui. Which is totally overpriced too. But if it will make you break 100?

Put Money Into Existing Table or Upgrade?

Great news indeed. 9' and a solid table at that. My old table went to a church and is now influencing a little hustler flock. Gold Crown's advice can be a serious tax deduction.

Put Money Into Existing Table or Upgrade?

I had a brand new furniture grade table that played fine. Two years later I bit the bullet and replaced it with a near mint condition GC4. That I keep until death. And that is what I would recommend. But, you say it's going upstairs. It may very well be that the floor joists and over all house...

    New Predator Table

I may be way wrong, my memory fades awful bad now. But I thought Dymondwood was the actual wood type that was impregnated with a high density plastic under pressure and heat. Not really a laminate. Anyway this could relate to the "size of material " that TrxR refers too.

    New Predator Table

As a semi-serious bucket banger I'm all for 5" pockets on a table for home. I live in a retirement community and there are 8 personally owned tables within just one block of me, that I know of. Not one is a Diamond or Gold Crown with pro pockets. I have a GC4 and a guy down the street has a GC3...

Dymondwood, your thoughts about the product.

But if you were to grind down a Dymondwood butt and smoke it, the plastics would be very toxic. Perhaps the Cowboy is ah, right in his own special way. After all he makes for interesting reading.

Blast from the past. I haven't seen, heard or read the name Spiedel in 60 years?

Am I the only one with this problem?

No I think it's common. There's almost a gravitational pull sucking the cue ball into the blocker. If you think it, they will collide. I step back and measure the clearance with the side of my cue. Edge to edge, does the blocker really interfere? You have to practice shooting next to blockers...

    Exceed Cues

A year and something back Mezz started a sale on their EC7 line that they were closing out. I jumped on one, it has their United joint. This lower end Mezz is better made than any other production cue I have, including three "custom" cues. I simply can't imagine how the Exceed could be ten times...

Yet another Unknown cue please help

Black-Balled, don't let Ring burst your bubble. I hit the like just for creativity. Supergeniosity is outstanding. The applied blending of language to cue building is truly an art form.
