If you could no longer physically play pool...

Nope. I'd watch the Mosconi and perhaps some highlights on yt, but that's about it. When I get interested in playing chess, I watch chess Same goes for golf and tennis. If/when I can't play pool, I'll watch whatever hobby replaces it.

    Cue tip Burnushers

For burnishing, I use a drop piece I bought from a leather shop that repaired one of my cases. I spin the shaft with a drill, wet the outer edge, and use the leather scrap. Works great. I used that Porper tool many years ago but didn't know how to use it correctly. I damaged one of my tips...

Matchroom WNT Ranking event-Peri 9 Ball Open 2023 (Oct 5-9) , Hanoi Vietnam, Winner $25K

Billy's round of 32 match was tough to watch. It's a shame one of the players had to win. Neither deserved to advance. It's such a contrast from the top level pros. Someone ask Johan to pick two more US players for JJ, out of the blue, like he did Styer in '18. I'd rather see Max on the team...

Did the cue market fall apart?

After some yahoo at the local hall accidentally knocked one of my customs onto a metal seam on the floor, damaging the forearm, I changed my gear. The customs will never leave the house. I now play with a factory cue with a durable CF shaft to prevent that from happening to me again. There are...

    Chess clocks in pool

Chess streams are popular globally. If guys were allowed to take too much time per move they too, would lose viewership. I prefer a classic game over speed when it comes to chess, but I'd rather watch Agadmater recap the match than watch it live in its entirety.

    Chess clocks in pool

True, many study the breaks. Rarely are the streams only live with no chance to go back want watch the breaks all day long if that is what you like. Granted, not much happens on the table while the replay is being shown -but it will free up a guy to do the clock. I think Gar in the post above...

    Hunter v Frost, your stance?

The rule itself is an embarrassment to pool and anyone who calls a foul on their opponent for such an offense is an embarrassment of a pool player. It's the same thing with removing balls from the pockets before the last ball stops rolling. It's a foul with no victim or offender. As someone who...

    Call from Colby with Salotto

We had a couple in Phoenix work the system to get the husband lowered to gain entry into a capped event. They got busted and dragged through the mud for months. It can be used the wrong way, as all things. Maybe everyone in the pool community got it wrong and the matches were legit. I don't...

    Chess clocks in pool

I don't watch snooker but I assume there is no shot clock. If that is the case I will assume MR does not care to add a clock to the early rounds of pool. The only way a chess style clock would work is if it was activated by the players AND the table. By that I mean the pockets would have to be...

Shaw is on fire to start. Ran first 3 racks.

A chess-style clock smarta55. I didn't anticipate confusing anyone with that comment. I'll try to find a crayon font when you're involved in the thread. A player shouldn't need 3 minutes after the break to make a decision.

Sanjin is taking forever to do anything. The last 64 needs to be played with at least a chess clock if they can't have a ref to manage the time.

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

I've been catching up on this thread and figure I'll comment. 1. First, we agree on hosting qualifying tournaments for the big events. I don't want these to all become invitationals -especially not the US Open, which has always been a place for an unknown to possibly make a splash in the US...

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Bingo. I've rooted for that kid to keep coming up and get to the top level for years. I will now be rooting for his opponents fort he rest of his petty, cheating, career. That was a disgrace to the game and an embarrassment to the player. I've complained in the past about the "all ball fouls"...

Predator cushions on Sept 20 play perfect

Shoot, I forgot they are Kim Steele tables iirc. They do look (and crack), just like plastic though. The seams match up really well though. Much better than any GC I've owned.

TV Got America Picker, But who the best cue picker on AZBilliards???

I think I read on here that a member bought a pool cue case at a yard sale for cheap and "found" a Black Boar cue inside. That guy wins.

Predator cushions on Sept 20 play perfect

I will consider a Chinese plastic-looking table if Diamond closes down for good one day and no quality tables made in the US exist. I have had several GCs but now that they are made in China, I have no interest. I am happy with my ProAm and it banks the way a table should. The fit of the...
