2016 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

please put me down for a 37, Sunday, Aug 31. *finally* getting some consistent decent numbers on this table after it was redone. GCII, 4.5" pockets and i swear the facings are cement board... need to play on a Diamond to relax a little! there's video, but it's not pretty.

    Swedish 14.1 Championships (LIVE)

Storm really deserved to win that match, he was by far the better player. his opponent seemed obsessed with shooting off key balls and playing non patterns. unfortunately, with those bucket-pockets, the cue ball found its way underground a few too many times...

    Side pocket break shot wwyd

absolutely 100% play it. you're going to clip the top 2 balls, depending on exact angle, i might hit center ball if it looks like it would skip too lightly off the top, but if you overdo that you can stick to the side of the pack pretty easily. it's a great breakshot, hard to get stuck without...

who has the best stroke in the world ?

this Semih Sayginer guy can't even hold the cue level. being serious for a moment: those are amazing trick shots and phenomenal body control with an air bridge, but there's no way i can evaluate his stroke for anything else because he never hits a normal shot in any of that video.

the individual links work, but the general link is incorrect. it should be: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrDmgwalsh/videos a "myvideos" youtube link will take someone to their own videos -- which is why, as you say, it worked for you. thank you for posting them, and for all you do for straight...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

so, here's a thing i don't understand: when my table was first installed, the pockets were at 4&3/8, and after 2 days, i texted Jay and said it was just too tight to play 14.1 (for me, anyway, and we've had discussions about this on the 14.1 forum and it's almost unanimous that you can't play...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

ooops. went back and looked at the chart and text more carefully, realized i measured the throat size at the wrong place. so my numbers should be: wigglybridge: GC 1.5, rails rebuilt & cushions replaced by Jay Spielberg tsf: 9' psf: 4.5 throat: 3 & 7/8 shelf: 1.5

Schmidt and Hohmann run some balls at Derby

"Thanks! The reason I said Ob Classic is I don't ever think I saw him with the laminated ferule. I think the old OB1 turned into what they're calling the Classic now, but I could be wrong." the OB-1 has always had the maple ferrule. it still exists as the OB-1+, still with the maple ferrule...

Schmidt and Hohmann run some balls at Derby

John never used an OB Classic shaft when he was with OB, since they didn't yet exist. he did use an OB-1 shaft, and shot one of his 400's with it. he left OB for Fury 4-5 years ago, but continued to use the OB-1 once in a while for both straight pool and rotation, including briefly for the...

    225 ball run at Derby

thank you for putting this up, Dennis. very interesting to watch him work through situations that are very common, sometimes coming up with the conventional approach, often not. just shy of 49:00, he complains about the skidding he's getting, which is hardly surprising given the Astonishing...

For those who have followed the game for decades

interestingly, it was the era when 14.1 straight pool was king. oh, wait, that Can't be right, of course we all know that straight pool is boring. correlation isn't causation. but it Is correlation. just sayin'.

    Charting causes of ended runs

i think you're blowing by alphadog's excellent answer and insisting on your own worldview; there's a possibility that you're right, but i'm guessing he's righter. ;) practicing the situation you Just screwed up is irreplaceable. practice it Now, while you remember exactly the situation and what...

GATER GRIP TIP TOOL ($14.95 free ship)

agree with Dan, and go further: i haven't used Anything but chalk on the tip of my cues for over a year, and both of them have utterly perfect dime tips. i miscue maybe once a week, playing a few hours a day, and owing only to stroke mechanics breaking down. if you chalk properly, you simply...
