Is a carom butt a larger diameter wood to make it stiffer? Is that the only difference?

I have an Ikon butt and it does feel a tiny bit whippy on hard shots but not too bad. However the break butt feels like it has a more solid spine and also the rubber grip is better than the wood or leather grip of the pool butts I have.
