What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

I love this. And I’ve always hated that pool in the US was traditionally a “sport that ate its own young.” The idea that you have to suffer and go through a “hazing” period by being robbed until you learn the basics is antiquated and smells of low class blue collar American mentality. Guarding...

Draw Shot Control Off a Rail – How to Manipulate Cue Ball Motion

Maybe not the video, but because it’s midweek, people are getting home and tired. I like the ball hop, that is something I never practice.

A lot of online content is now available for free. Nine ball on the spot is becoming more popular. One pocket is slightly more popular. Grey cloth is seen more often. DIY streaming is more accessible. Expensive chalk has become mainstream. Stroke mechanics has improved on average among top...

HOW TO RACK Pool Balls as Tightly as Possible

I really think you should watch Joe Tucker's Racking Secrets 1 and 2 videos, and mention his material in the video as a reference. https://www.joetucker.net/product/racking-secrets-digital/

HOW TO RACK Pool Balls as Tightly as Possible

Yes, the priority of gaps. They aren’t all created equally. You should take the most care to avoid slugs. However if there are gaps elsewhere you can instead use them to your advantage by changing your breaking position. Mostly for 9 or 10 ball. Sometimes you can also train a table through a...

RIP Billy Lanna aka Billy The Kid

Wow, I can’t believe it. We all knew him well up here. He taught me a lot when I was starting one pocket. He was my partner in a game at a friends house and we somehow drank three or four bottles of red wine between us that day. That was a good memory.

    FCC Certified

Great news, the FCC has officially certified the DigiBall. In other words, the US govt has approved the wireless design for distribution / sales in the United States. CE is also complete. This is a major milestone for an electronic consumer product! I am now finalizing details like the box...

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

To answer the OPs question, no. Using either inside or outside English won't effect the tolerances of the shot. What should be more of a concern is focusing on not scratching in the side pockets for either option. Having a solid plan without any guesswork usually ends up helping your aiming...

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

Dr Dave was a professional educator, which is a developed skill set in itself. Even though I am smart and understand a lot about the game and proficient in my field, I do not have the articulation that Dr Dave has in explaining concepts so clearly. My writing is a bit too stiff most of the time...

    Dime vs Nickel tip

Did you know that as you move the tip from center, the spin to speed ratio linearly increases until about 40%, and then increases very little and flattens out between 40% and 55%? The last 10% before the miscue limit gives you roughly the same amount of spin to speed ratio. It has to do with...

    Dime vs Nickel tip

A miscue has much more to do with “edge compression” (of the tip) as I mentioned.

How are the U.S. 3C org. doing Today????

@Texas3cushion is right. As someone who has spent years practicing carom games on a pool table… there is almost no slide, you lose a ton of energy off of the rails, long short longs mostly track to near the corners, and trying to properly go longer introduces side pockets as obstacles. The...

    Dime vs Nickel tip

Tip radius has nothing to do with a miscue. Also tip radius has much less effect on pretty much everything than you would think. A miscue has much more to do with edge compression and chalk, out beyond whatever a radius will provide in terms of surface contact point.

How are the U.S. 3C org. doing Today????

“Where are the pockets” or “what the hell is the point of this game?” Are the most common comments the general public attaches to 3C videos online. “Foul” or “try doing that on the first try” are the most common for pool. People are much more engaged in pool because culture has taught them...
