    Don Mackey Back?

I agree with you. Even short reel type videos of great shots/outs like Chris Melling's 8-ball out could really draw some viewers and lead back to the match. Maybe even get more youngsters interested in pool.

Coming Back after 20 Years Off

I have an Ernie Martinez birdseye no points that plays really well. I would think that would be in your budget but not sure. Mine is not for sale. :)

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

I'm similar. I use feel but I obsessively learn and try aiming systems. When I'm playing though, I only use an aiming system if I can't feel the shot.

Mental Game - (long) The role of aiming systems in peak performance.

I agree with you completely. The way I prove it is that players miss backward cuts more than straight in shots or forward cuts. If the misses were caused by mechanical faults then the misses would be distributed evenly among all shots and happen almost randomly.

A professional "Pool Detective" gives "Kid Delicious" *devilishly smart* road hustling advice. Fascinating 10-minute must-read article!

I used to play off the wall all the time when I was traveling for business. I played more with house cues than probably any other cue. And I still play best with a good house cue. I don't think there is a better hit than a good one-piece house cue with a soft, cheap tip.

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

I'm going to have to try this on a table. It sounds great and I've been looking for a good pivot to add outside spin. You did a much better job describing this than I did describing the Shishkabob IMO.

Another one worth bumping right now.

The more or less Aiming system

Seemed like a good time to bump this one back up again. :) I started playing again after a 2 year covid layoff. This is one that seems to knock the rust out pretty quick.

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

bbb to see what they are talking about it is a lot easier at a table. I read all the threads and watched the videos but it wasn't until someone actually showed me how the pivot works that the light went on. The edge of the CB through center CB to edge of OB and then pivot back to the center...

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

Pivoting in CTE and Shiskabob makes them analog systems. Aiming at fractions is a digital system. If you are aiming at fractions you can only be as precise as the system of measure allows. Aim 1/16 of a ball width over? That stretches the limit of what the eyes and mind can perceive. Go...

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

Thanks for this post Ratta. I agree with you. All systems (well, almost) have something in them that is useful and I like drawing what I can from each of them. So many knowledgeable people here that share really great information. I love Brian's poolology system. And I love Shish-ka-bob...

    Your worst beating story

When I first moved to the Bay Area back in 2004 or so I preferred to play on 9' tables but played a lot on bar tables. I moved from Colorado and 9' tables there have usually at least 4.5" pockets. The tight tables are around 4.25". So I decided to put my money in and play in the annual...

    Your worst beating story

Ok. Now I really wish I was back in the bay. I know who you played. Where you played and probably could guess your hustler/nutter friend with under 5 tries. Yeah, I think you should absolutely get him on the big tables and play him 1-pocket. Those old guys can't play 1-hole for crap. :D

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

We have gone through remarkably similar journeys. I wish I still lived in the Bay Area it would be fun to share insights. One thing I would add to all this is that slightly off-center straight shots are tough with any aiming system. Except I've found that if I do an inside pivot (I Think...

Practice Halfball Shots Using Fractional Aiming With a Road Map

Thanks for sharing this again. I have just picked up my cue again for the first time in a couple of years and was also reviewing poolology because sometimes my eyes can't find the right shot memory and it's a great tool to get back to 'seeing' shots correctly. I only have the first edition and...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

Have you tried it to see? Onetime I tried to make fun of Busty by Doing all my practice strokes low and to the side like he does. Best I ever shot in my life! Never tried it again though… :)

    They made a movie...

I wrote a pilot intended for Amazon with a similar idea. Never submitted it. I was working on a second draft when they stopped their public submissions. It was about some pool players that meet up and go on the road in Texas and then end up in 1970s Detroit and end up staying there. So the...
