The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

Anybody else with his strategy would be lucky to break 20 IMO. I learned 14.1 from an old timer when I first started playing pool. I don't play it much but even I can see the traps he gets himself into. That he can shoot his way out of them as often as he does is amazing. Truly amazing!

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

It’s also a mechanism to keep your confidence up. If it’s the table, AC, chalk, etc… then you are still playing good. If you are hitting poor shots (or admitting it to yourself that you are) then YOU are off and that hits your confidence. Some players keep their confidence high like that...

New pool movie or maybe movie with pool in it

I’ve had a lot of nights like that! Minus the prostitute…and the cocaine…and the fight…and the police…and the $2000 bet in the finals… Other than that, exactly!

Cut Shots - Do you use Center of Cue Ball or Edge of Cue Ball for alignment to the Object Ball or Both

I do both depending on the cut angle. I’ll also use the edge of the cue tip as a reference for these shots.

    Fargo Ratings and table size

I understand your point and you are not wrong. However, the assertion that FargoRate has made in the past is that it holds true for all combinations of equipment and games (except 1-pocket). In this case the assertion is that table size doesn’t matter - which already assumes game does not...

    Fargo Ratings and table size

The entire point is that it’s consistent even with different games and different table sizes. That’s a feature, not a bug.

    Fargo Ratings and table size

Exactly. While you might be a '700' on a bar table - if it were an absolute rating - the guy who is a '700' on the 9' table would typically be a 750 on the bar table. I used to love both sides of this. I'd gamble with people on a bar table and they'd excuse losing to me by saying I was a 'bar...

"Upgrading" from a Diamond to a Valley...

It’s in your head. Kind of. Valley tables are easier because they have bigger and more forgiving pockets. They are tougher because in a bar league the rails can be dead, balls can be different sizes, cue ball can be a different size or weight and the rails play completely differently than...

How to calculate your Fargo performance in a particular tournament?

There are lots of old threads devoted to it. On equipment with bigger pockets there is less congestion and ball pocketing is easy. 8-ball on a big table with big pockets is about the easiest game there is. I think it's much easier than 8-ball on a bar table with big pockets in terms of...

How to calculate your Fargo performance in a particular tournament?

But if a 9’ table is harder (debatable) then you would have a lower Fargo rate on a 9’ table. And so would your opponent. So why does it matter? Fargo is a relative handicap, not an absolute.

How to calculate your Fargo performance in a particular tournament?

Table is the same for both players. So is the game. So relative skill should be the same no matter where they play. There are folks who only play bar box and whose. Game would suffer on a 9’ table but they normally adjust pretty quickly. If you had a guy who plays 650 on a bar box but...
