STROKE TIMING … A Complete MythBusting Study of Stroke Acceleration Effects

Excellent post. This discrepancy between what we think our body is doing and what it actually is doing can be the reason that in both golf and pool, when we try harder we play worse. Because what we are doing is trying to be more precise in our mental picture which forces our stroke or swing...

What’s your Reaction Score to Message Count % here?

That’s a good question. Almost everyone had maxed their reputation before so I don’t know if Mike would have bothered.

What’s your Reaction Score to Message Count % here?

I just want to point out that reaction scores are relatively new so longer term members had a lot of posts that people couldn’t ‘react to’ when they were posted. I have 14,000 posts and 5,000 reactions (roughly). - I don’t know how many of those posts were after the change.

    Scott the Shot Smith RIP

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. My best memory of Scott was playing him 9-ball at his bar in Springs, I think it was called "Rack and Roll" - I was a lowly B+ player so I was getting weight. We were tied hill-hill and I broke and ran out. My first one in a tournament, I believe. He didn't...

    My Fargorate progression

I think he meant 7 in 8-ball and 8 in 9-ball. If he meant 7 or 8 in 9-ball then I agree with you. EDIT - Just read his original message more and you are correct, he meant 7 or 8 in 9-ball.

The new I can’t get better without a gadgets are in

The key is to drink enough so that you don't wish you were playing. And to not drink so much you *think* you're playing and it's your turn. Forever.

How do you handle light sharking?

Ignorance is bliss for me. I don’t know or care when someone is sharking me. Many times people will come up to me after a match and say my opponent was sharking me by xyz… Usually I didn’t even notice.

    “I beat myself…”

I've given up saying anything. Every polite thing you might say can be turned against you. I just smile and shake hands or fist bump.

Pattern advice knowledge. step on in.

I'm in a similar situation in that I quit for about 10 years and then started again regularly and then quit during covid for 3 years due to lack of time/opportunity to play. An important thing to remember is that your strategy when you could play better is not necessarily your best strategy...

What's the reason behind this post? Does it bother you to hear people say it or do you think it holds them back because it's a form of denial? Or something else? Genuinely curious.

Did you give or did I take it?

The loser is the one who made the last mistake. The fewer mistakes you make the more likely it won’t be you. That is it. Always. Just because someone made a dumb sellout mistake doesn’t mean they gave it to you. It means you successfully avoided making the last mistake and they didn’t...

    Fargo Rating

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question but to take an extreme example. If I play someone in a tournament who has my exact rating, say 600. And I beat him. Then he goes out the next week and wins a tournament full of killers and performs at a 750 - his rating will go up. Now mine...
