    US Open 08/18-23

Hohmann was unknown when he won the WPC in 2003. It could happen.... Vogel is playiing Strickland in the first round, I would love to see Earl reaction getting bit by a kid... I don't think that in a single event, there is much difference between 730 player to an over 800 player. All it takes is...

    US Open 08/18-23

My guess is that the usual suspects won’t win - SVB, Gorst, Filler, Yapp. I would like see to an unknown take it or an older player like Pagulayan

    Slow play by pros

They would never get down to shoot… 😝 Taking too much time to shoot brings doubts into the game and could work against the slow player. Those really slow players usually don’t win the tournament.

    Slow play by pros

Too late the game has changed. Back in the day, pockets were huge, pocketing was easy and it was all about moving the cue ball. Today, it's all about pocketing the ball and position is secondary, as long as you see the ball, it good enough. You could blame tight pockets for this, but this...

    Slow play by pros

Of course it does, but they could play faster, they do under a shot clock but if you’re going to give them the time, they will take all the time in the world to make sure that they don’t miss and get position. This mentality came to pool from players that come from snooker oriented countries...

    Wood over CF shaft options

You also have the InFuze shafts, there is one branded Lucasi made of regular wood and one that is branded Pure X that is made with kielwood. I have the Kielwood version, plays nice, low defletion but not as low as my SMO CF shaft. My shaft is a bit on the heavy side, I understand that it's not...

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

I have a Scruggs and a Jacoby, both have a 5/16x14 joint and both have a softer hit than my Schons or McDaniel with the same joint. Well Scruggs in not around anymore but maybe Jacoby can make you one. I wasn't a fan of the soft hitting cues but fitted with a CF shafts that have a stiff hit...

    $1200 Dufferin?!

If the maker had brand new shaft fitted to it and it's a well known cue maker, then I can see it going for that price. Don't forget that a CueTec goes these days for about $1000. Not justifying it, just saying, I can see the logic.

I know this been ask before about one piece cue? But who got a one piece cue hidden away in a Bar or Pool Room?

Before I had my own cue, I used to play regularly at this bar in NYC, they had only one house cue that was light at 18oz and it was a bit warped, but it was the cue I played best with. The owner of the bar that was a friend and later became my APA team captain let me put it in the manager...

    3/8*10 pin size

Many cue makers use the 3/8x10 modified pin. In most cases, the modified version shafts will fit the old pin. Old shafts may fit the mod pin, if not, the could be tapped to fit all.

Deflection question, explain how a stiffer CF shaft has less deflection.

Those were not CF, you had wooden shafts that were coated with fiberglass or graphite.

    Collectable Wood shafts?

I have a bunch of wooden shafts, every cue that I have has one or two original shafts that are mostly only test hit, I’ve always had a Predator shaft fitted to my cues.

Best All-Around Production Cue for ~$1000 (Value, Playability, Durability, Support)?

Cheapest Mezz is around $600 with a standard wooden shaft. If looking for LD or CF + add extension and you are past the $1000 mark. I've hit a Mezz with Ignite shaft next to my JFlower, I don't think that the Mezz feels better, both have a nice solid hit.
