    Funny pic/gif thread...

This was awesome. It was an interesting game to review as well. But yeah, I might have to listen to this again. If I was a chess player I'd want to be this Ivanchuk!

    Oscar barking at Karl Boyes

I like Oscar. He is as gritty as they come. When it's slick new cloth in tournaments who knows, but when it's on a worn cloth club table with tight pockets in a cash shoot out I think he shows up in a big way.

    Minneapolis Question

In the works. You can search Slate Billiard Club on FB as rharm mentioned. If you are in town shoot me a private message or text me at 612-747-9210. Thanks!

    Practice practice practice

Thanks for the shout out Thresh! I don't remember who you are in real life at the moment, it's hard enough to remember names without user names on top of it! Anyway, all sounds good. Great practice! I'd like to add in the concept of working on individual layouts, setting the same layout up...

    Minneapolis Question

JPB2- I have a private pool club opening up June 1st in St. Paul, maybe 15 minutes from MOA. Josh Burbul, my best friend and partner, is making this one of the nicest pool experiences available to guests. It's members only but shoot me a message at 612-747-9210 and I can help make a visit work.

    Denny (you putz)

Hahaha. Yeah, it makes no sense to come to play a few games of straight pool...except that jumping in the car and listening to a good podcast and meeting a cool guy and playing a fun session sounds like a fun time. And I have some buddies down there so if I could meet up with them for dinner...

    Denny (you putz)

Hey Dyno. I'm not going to be able to make it this time. I love straight pool and no one plays it anymore so it sounds like a heck of a fun evening, but it will have to be another trip. I'll look you up next time I head that way. Thank you.

    Denny (you putz)

Hey Dyno, thank you for the invite. Give me 24 hours and I'll let you know. Thanks brother!

I just had a cancellation so I'm off next week. I could take a trip to Red Shoes next Wednesday or Thursday if you would like a game. I don't bet millions but could have some fun.

    MN Poolbootcamp Mental training

Thank you all again. I've got my next group session filled that will run in April and May. I will be looking for 3 more people starting in June or July. Probably going to stick to Sunday evenings, 9-11PM CST, every other Sunday night. Could maybe flex a little for our East Coast friends...

    Poolgame: Kill the King

While I am skeptical that there will be a new pool game I am interested in pursuing on my own, I am open minded to hearing new ideas. My questions are simple. What would game play look like? What are some of the strategic decisions that would need to be made? How might the shots that come up...

    Jump stroke evolution

Well, AZBilliards does it again. What a great thread. I've been jumping all my life trying to keep my cue as close to under my body as I can, avoiding any type of side arm as much as possible. I always assumed that the closer to my normal stance and technique the better. I probably tried...

    Jump stroke evolution

My buddy Josh points out to me regularly that he very, very, very rarely sees a top pro use a dart stroke. In years of competition we have only seen it a few times in very extenuating circumstances. But at the amateur level you see it all over. You have to do what works best for you, but the...

    MN Poolbootcamp Mental training

Hey gang! Thanks as always for the kind words. MDaines was one of three people I just ran through my mental game training over the last two months. It was three sessions, 2 hours each, bi-weekly. That was the first group I ran and it was kind of a test to see how it went. It was a slam...

    Eagle eye and sightright

At 7:40 he asks whether Ronnie would see this line straight according to this sighting aid, and if not whether he would improve if he centered his cue around his sighting center. His answer "I haven't got a clue". How many top players are sighting perfectly aligned with their vision center...

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Agreed. I really spend next to no time speculating what they could do to improve. Not that I don’t have ideas, but it isn’t my tour and I have absolutely zero influence in it. As a player i make a habit of keeping my focus on things I can control and not chasing trains of thought that are out...

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Your guess is as good as mine. Even if they had a list the follow up is would be how are they going to use it? Maybe they do hold spots for top players and I just don't know about it. I can only speak to my sign up experience.

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Hey gang! Thanks for thinking of me! Yes, I was fortunate. The last two years I was refreshing my screen the morning of registration waiting to enter. This year I was asleep at the wheel. Fortunately my partner in crime (Jesse Engel) messaged me and I registered immediately. I got an...

My Take on the MN Pool Bootcamp

Dave, pepper, AZers. Those of you who know me I am rarely at a loss for words. Yet I am having a hard time finding the right way to express my gratitude. I am beyond lucky to be able to be able to build my livelihood around pool. I'm not a strong enough player to do it through competition...
