    Favorite Production Cue Ever

90s Schon, when I was learning to play, and no money I would be looking at all the cue catalogs wishing I could get one of those. Funny thing is that I have owned many cues over the years that cost more than what I can get a Schon for but I just never went and got one. Probably because I...

What rule was this player's shot interrupted for?

It has a good reason, but it was not the right way to solve the soft pattern break in 9 ball. MANY times I have seen a good break become "illegal" because of just the randomness of how the balls spread. A player makes a ball, but some balls collide, or hit the point of the side pocket, and...

Atlanta and Jacksonville trip in June, anyone want to meet to play?

If I can, I will! Look for an almost old guy with no hair LOL

What rule was this player's shot interrupted for?

I am still waiting for the "3 point" break rule to die, speaking of bad rules. That is a rule that causes more issues than it tries to solve.

Do you wear competition pool outfits? Thoughts?

Unless I am sponsored or an owner of a pool hall, just use normal clothing. I have seen a couple of players that were probably C- shooters, come to league in fully decked out Predator outfits, cues and bags, they looked like they were in the US Open. Looked a bit silly, especially for the...

Advice on how to stay down on the shot more consistently?

Simple, practice not doing it. A good way is to simply shoot, and watch the shot take place from the final position.

What rule was this player's shot interrupted for?

That makes 0 sense but a good job by the ref being familiar with it. If anything, I would have thought you could have an "unsportsmanlike conduct" foul due to taunting and disrespecting the other player by shooting a silly shot. How can you have a rule about how to make a bridge without...

    Playmaster Renaissance Custom Table

The value is in the fanciness not the quality of the table as a pool table. It would play like a normal good quality home table you can find for $500 - 1,000.

Curious as to why no one plays with/without an extension dependent on the shot.

A lot of players do not have the extension on all the time. I use a 30" butt that has a screw-in extension and only use it when I need to reach a far shot. 90% of players play that way that have extensions. You may be going by a very small sample if you think people use it all the time.

Mezz Sigma shafts are entry level with hardly any ferrule?

I played, and seen people play, with a lot of cues with tiny or no ferrules, as long as the person using them is a "player" and knows how to chalk and use the equipment, I have not seen an issue with any of them.

    white lines on gray cloth

If you want a more permanent solution, use a marker, a simple normal size Sharpie. I used tailors chalk before, and it fades pretty quickly with use.

Atlanta and Jacksonville trip in June, anyone want to meet to play?

I liked it there, or do you mean the town in general not the pool hall? I found the pool hall by driving by it going to some Strawbery Festival that sucked LOL It was advertised as happening for a few days, but it was just a few booths inside some carnival and was not even setup at all for the...

Atlanta and Jacksonville trip in June, anyone want to meet to play?

I will be in Atlanta June 5/6/7/8 and in Jacksonville from the 8th on to maybe end of the month. If anyone is around those areas and wants to meet up to shoot send me a PM. Not interested in gambling really unless it's like $20 sets, but like to meet fellow AZBers and have local guides for...

Whyte carbon 3 different types & smoothness.

I played with the wood grained shaft for a bit, felt pretty smooth, better than the white version.

    Sawdust cue?

They have a pretty good reputation, used prices are very up in the air since that is only what someone will pay for it, not what someone wants for it. I would say 75% of new price would be fair, but who knows that someone will accept as an offer. They are good enough and "custom" enough that...

    DP cues old vs new?

eBays ones have a certificate of authenticity and usually a 1 of 1 thing on the forearm. Too bad the eBay ones are no more, and people are trying to sell them for double or triple the original price, basically lying about what they are.

    Guerrieri Cues? $600?

Very scammy. Bet he has some "rare vintage 4-piece cues" for $200 that are $10 Asian ramen wood junk.

Best straightforward (ie non-25 minute youtube video) advice/training on stroke

You need a teacher to watch you shoot and help you make adjustment. From your point of view it will be almost impossible to correct things. A lot of people I work with say "wow, I had no idea I was doing this" or "this feels straight to me" when they were 1 inch off center.

    Anyone using Simones Green cloth?

My son is re-doing his pool hall with green cloth after years of having blue, and has been getting a lot of compliments on the traditional look. Plus, the name of the place is "The Green Room" LOL The photo does not look as good as it does in person.

58'' standard cue length needs to be bumped to 59/60''

This is actually a pretty good point. I see a lot of players using cheaper/standard cues that are choking up on the thing or using a very compact stroke and stance. I think everyone could benefit with a 59" cue. I find a 30" butt and a 29" shaft ideal from the point of hit feel, reach and swing.
